i won’t watch merlin again for ~4 months because i’m watching it with my friends and we’re all going off to school but i feel so blessed that the last scene i watched before this hiatus was arthur saying “you’re not doing it right. i’ll show you how it’s done.” while tightly pulling on a rubber glove and snapping it and then the credits rolled—
merlin telling ghost!uther about his magic was satisfying and badass as hell… also ghost!uther starting to tell arthur about merlin’s magic but being banished before he could 😌
watching merlin and i just,,,, “i swear i will protect you or die at your side.” what the actual fuck bro.
my love for arthur pendragon makes so much sense considering my love for boromir…….. royalty (who i’ve actively had to defend against people irl) who are in the wrong sometimes because they’ll do anything for their father’s validation but have so much love in their hearts and care so deeply for those that they love :’)
i feel like i talk a lot about my lotr ships but i also have a lot of love for the non-romantic relationships, so here are a few of my favorite platonic/familiar dynamics:
- merry and pippin obviously… they mean so much to me and their relationship is possibly my absolute favorite in all of lotr
- pippin and gandalf… idk i just care them a lot,, in return of the king especially there’s so many good moments with them
- eomer and eowyn… it’s all about karl urban in that one scene from the extended edition. you know the one.
- boromir and merry & pippin… makes me absolutely insane, no elaboration necessary.
- boromir and faramir… weeps. wails. sobs. etc.
- the three hunters… okay so i do ship legolas and gimli but the friendship dynamic between all three of them is so good
there’s probably more but these are the main ones i could think of. anyways,, i’m all about samfro and gigolas and farawyn, among other ships, but these dynamics are just as incredible so shoutout to them 😌
