Hello hello welcome to my cave

@gillottaako

gillotto’s TAZ side blog
a place for me to dump all my TAZ art and scream into the void about Taagnus

I decided to do a redraw of one of the very first TAZ drawings I ever did, back in March 2019 (on the left).

It’s really interesting to see the changes my style has undergone in 10 months, and it helps to put things into perspective for me. I don’t need to be so down on myself about my art and my progress as an artist. I am getting better.

Happy 2020, everybody! Hope everyone has a positive year :)

I made a Spotify playlist for TAZ Balance that’s filled with lots of good bops. Give it a listen, and send me a message with any song recalls you have that give you those sweet, delicious TAZ Balance vibes 👌✨

Oh and here’s my Taagnus playlist if y’all are interested 👀

luv note (TAZ Balance Animation)

[TAZ Balance spoilers ahead!!]

Description: Sometimes, when he can’t slip into meditation at night, Taako sneaks down into Magnus’s bunk. He doesn’t understand why, but when he’s with him the constant feeling of loneliness that plagues him daily subsides somewhat.

I’ve been working on this for the last 3 months around my classwork and I’m so excited to share it with y’all!! Kinda sad I didn’t have it finished for Taagnus Week but hey, better late than never! (If you’re not a fan of the ship you can pass this by.)

My first attempt at drawing the TAZ:G boys!

[ID: art of the player characters from TAZ Graduation, drawn in blue.

Sir Fitzroy Maplecourt is a light-skinned half-elf. He’s skinny and has an angular face and short, wavy dark hair. He’s wearing round glasses and a vest over a long-sleeved shirt. His arms are folded across his chest and he has a confident, knowing smile on his face as he says, “He says dope shit like that all the time.”

Argo Keene is a blue-skinned genasi, with fin-like ears and long dark hair tied back into a ponytail. He also has a handlebar mustache and his skin has visible scales. He’s wearing a button-down white shirt. He’s resting his hands on his hips and nodding with a big earnest smile on his face.

Standing behind Argo is a firbolg, who stands nearly two heads taller than the others. He’s a bulky figure with grey skin and shoulder-length untamed black hair that’s falling in his face, obscuring his eyes. He’s wearing a tunic with a sash that looks as though it’s made of leaves. He’s looking ahead with a blank expression.

End ID]

Happy (belated) Taagnus Week!

I wound up being in an art funk for nearly the whole week and couldn’t draw anything for the daily prompts. Then I was finally able to draw decently again by, like, Thursday. And then my Too Much gene came out and I wound up making a 3 page comic.

This takes place during Cycle 47 of The Stolen Century, at the Legato Conservatory. In the actual episode, Magnus turns to Lup and tells her to hold the Hunger off and don’t take off without him. When Lup asks everyone if they’re cool with this plan, Taako’s response is an enthusiastic “Hell yeah!”. And you know I had to rub my dirty li’l hands all over this moment and make it Taagnus. So I decided to come up with what I think Mags might have said to Taako before he spoke to Lup.

Working on this mini-comic lit a fire under my ass to get my longer Taagnus comic finished, so hopefully you’ll be seeing that soon. I’m kinda bummed I wasn’t able to contribute more during Taagnus Week, but I’m gonna make up for it. November is Taagnus Month, baby.

Us against the world

-

Taako and Lup from their caravan-hopping days. I’d put them somewhere around 80-years-old here, which by elf standards is probably the equivalent of “late-teens”.

-

(*Image description*: a drawing of twins Taako and Lup standing side by side. Taako is on the left; he’s an elf with tanned skin covered in freckles and short, light blonde hair. He’s wearing a light blue shirt, dark gray trousers, and brown, lace-up boots. All of his clothes seem ill-fitting; the shirt and trousers are quite baggy and seem to hang off of his slight frame. He is standing straight with his hands shoved into his pockets, and he has stern, guarded expression on his face. Lup is on the right. She’s a female elf and Taako’s twin sister. She has the same freckled, tanned skin, and her hair is the same colour of light blonde as her brother’s, though the hairstyle is different. Lup has an undercut, with most of her head being closely-shaved with only a tuft of hair on the top of her head. She is wearing a shirt in a similar style to Taako’s, that’s a faded red colour, as well as light brown trousers and black combat boots. Lup’s clothes also appear to not fit her very well; the collar of the shirt is quite stretched, her pants are very loose on her and have to be tied up at her waist with a piece of string. She has her arms crossed in front of her, and stands slightly in front of Taako with her right leg bent slightly at the knee. Her expression mirrors Taako’s, as they both look on with looks of contempt.)
