I'd say Colossus definitely gets more than a cameo's worth of screentime in Deadpool. I'd say he gets... maybe about as much time as The Vision in Age of Ultron? And a good few lines too (I'd only seen his split-second scenes in the first two X-Men movies beforehand, and have fallen wholly in love now! What a delightful cinnamon roll of goodness and sincerity).
Thanks, anon! And yeah, despite being a prominent mutant in the comics, he’s a pretty much a non-character in the X-Men movies.
Three films, and I think he has maybe one line while saving some kids?
I’m glad he gets a bigger role that people are responding to, because Piotr Rasputin is an endearing cornball. He’s a gigantic tank of a dude even without transforming, and in his armored state he has the power to be an unstoppable force of destruction, a full-metal murder machine. So of course he’s actually a gentle artist full of farm charm, earnestness, and honesty. He abhors violence, but believes his powers come with a responsibility to help others. So he runs around saying things like, “By the White Wolf!” totally sincerely.
It’s a simple formula, but I’ll fall for it every time. Colossus is the ultimate foil for a character like Deadpool.
