These pages have been going around a lot lately. It;s from a story I wrote for Wonder Woman’s 75th Anniversary Special, and I am reblogging to make sure that the artist/co-creator, Colleen Doran, gets proper credit for making Star-Blossom so adorable! :)

actually, i’m not just gonna leave that in the tags: Catholics used the Holocaust as an opportunity to steal and convert Jewish children. Catholic authorities refused to return the Jewish children they “saved” to their families after the Holocaust ended. we have no idea how many children we lost. 

they used our genocide to steal our babies.

I seem to recall a story about the rosh yeshiva of Ponevezh (R’ Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman) who went looking for these children after the war. When Catholic monasteries and abbies tried to refuse him entry, so the story goes, he would ask, I just want to say one sentence to whatever crowd of children you have here. And the authorities in each place would look at this tiny, shuffling, bearded rav and let him in.

So the rosh yeshiva would go to the classroom or the cafeteria or whatever, wherever the children were, and he would put his hand over his eyes and say the six words of the Shema. “SHEMA,” He would start, slowly enough, “ADO-NAI ELO-HEINU,” and he would hear little voices joining in, “ADO-NAI ECHAD!”

And sure enough, when he quickly uncovered his eyes he would see little kids blinking up at him, wondering where he came from. The Shema is the first prayer a Jewish child learns, and it is the last prayer one says before death. Time among Christians would not have taken it from all the Jewish children.

At every place, the story goes, Rav Kahaneman walked away with Jewish orphans, children that the Catholic authorities had denied were Jews.

And everyone forgets that Rafael Lemkin’s original definition of genocide did not require death of the individual; it allowed for the death of the culture.

Here’s another article on it, which is less open towards the idea that there’s somehow a “grey area” involved in the stealing of Jewish children.

Werewolf pelt that turns its wearer into a wolf. 

Town of Wimer

Mostly human population, but has a good mix of dwarf/halfling/etc. Guard presence is pretty relaxed, but the people here seem panicky. The town borders a [swamp/desert/etc]. 

Inn/bar: Drunken Snooze. Run by Erin who looks just so tired. You’re not sure if he ever even gets a break. He knows the perfect drinks to give you a good nights sleep, a long night partying, or the drink to give you the courage to say hi to that pretty Dragonborn.

Swords n Armor: Named “SA”. Run by Russ. “Aint got time for silly things like names. I’m here to sell swords and armor, thats it. Buy things or leave.”  A big man, very blunt, and admires a good short sword.

The town borders [swamp/desert/etc] that contains [monster that lives in that area]. They’ve had a symbiotic relationship for a few years now. [E.g. the humans give them their sick or dead in exchange for protection, or spells, etc.] The townspeople are glad to not be absolutely destroyed by the [monsters], but are fearful their peace will come to an end soon. Several younger villagers are against this trade, and try to sabotage it.

Your king has died. His younger brother is out on a long hunt deep into the woods. 

Raw, powerful magic is spilling forth from [NPC]’s mouth, filling those nearby with incredible but unstable magical powers that fade the farther the NPC is away from them. The NPC cannot speak, or open their mouth without magic seeping out. Magic ceases to seep out when the NPC closes their mouth.

justin in a disinterested monotone: I cast prestidigitation and shoot sparks out of my fingers. cast minor illusion put myself in a dope outfit and start walking down the catwalk with all the style and panache I can muster. which is, I should know, a fucking lot. griffin laughing: yeah roll charisma justin still in a fucking monotone: oh that– that’s weird I got 30 because it’s so fucking fly. that’s very strange and interesting.

if you ever have about an hour and a half to kill, instead of watching a movie, please watch the three part series of the mcelroy brothers playing fallout 4 and destroying it from the inside out

like i can barely sit through a ten minute letsplay anymore and yet i watched all of these absolutely entranced the entire time
