one thing about orpheus and eurydice is you guys are all like “i’m different i wouldnt turn to look at her” because you are all familiar with the story of orpheus and eurydice. but orpheus wasnt familiar with the story because he was in it lol.

another thing thats interesting is i think most people assume its a walk of reasonably short length that you have to resist looking back. but we dont know how long that walk was. its out of the underworld, time could work very differently. could be days. could be months. could you walk for months without looking back to see if your love is okay? i dont think you could

Soap is not a pretty sleeper. He sleeps with his mouth open and drools down the side of his face. His limbs are either everywhere or wrapped so tightly around the nearest thing he can grab you might as well kiss freedom goodbye until he wakes up.
He sleeps until 10 and even when he does wake up he’s still basically asleep with how he stumbles around with half opened eyes.
But Ghost thinks he’s never seen anything so beautiful. Johnny holds him so tightly some nights, as if he’s afraid he’ll disappear at some point and doesn’t want to let him go. Other nights his limbs take up most the bed but he always unconsciously leaves a gap for Simon to settle into.
When he wakes up he’s all soft smiles and pliantly warm body, asking for hugs and just general affection until he can boot his brain up enough to be his usual, energetic self.
And when he’s asleep he looks so peaceful. The worries of their next mission and the absence of nightmares is apparent when he manages to sleep on a puddle of his own drool. He’ll always complain about it come morning but it’s how Simon knows he’s getting good sleep.
Because when he isn’t his mouth is screwed up so not a sound escapes him. His face is scrunched with worry lines and stress, the shadows deepening to make it look like his nightmares have aged him by years.
There’s almost nothing Ghost hates more than when those nights occur cause there’s nothing he can do. He can’t protect his Johnny from his own mind and it kills him that someone as amazing as him has to suffer through something like nightmares.
He knows logically that it’s what they all signed up for when they got into this line of work and there’s no helping it but it doesn’t mean he wishes it didn’t happen.

??? HE PREFERS TO BE WHAT?
This dialogue doesn't make any sense to me because.. what was Soap about to say?
They went on one. ONE. mission together, they barely talked.
And why did Ghost react like that? Did he know what Soap was about to say? Why was he so annoyed about it?
The only logical explanation would be that Soap came up with some weird nickname for Ghost behind the scenes, but we never hear of it again. If that’s the case then my boy really has no fear.

First of all why does Alejandro just assume that he CAN'T call Soap Johnny. I think that's like the first time he hears somebody calling Soap that and he just assumes “oh well I guess it's only reserved for Ghost".
(Also it's very funny to me how sad he sounds while saying it)
And secondly "Only Ghost can pull that off.". Pull what off? YOUR NAME?? ARE YOU HEARING YOURSELF.
I guess you can explain that maybe "Johnny" sounds kinda childish? And maybe it's used as more of a tease than a nickname. But why is Ghost THE ONLY ONE who can "pull that off".

Also Alejandro needs to stop getting himself in these situations.

So, i just realized they started a theme of Soap and Ghost touching shoulders. Soap punches his shoulder when they meet, Ghost punches his shoulder before Soap helps him with the cameras, and Johnny pats Ghost’s shoulder when they leave Las Almas.
Also correct me if I’m wrong, but is Soap the only one who touches Ghost outside of combat? And is Soap the only person Ghost touches outside of combat? I’ll have to double check.

I know a lot of people say they think Soap is the one who is like a crow, picking up random objects and giving them to Ghost, but I honestly just feel in my heart that Ghost is the crow. He’s not great at expressing how much Johnny means to him - means to Simon, so he does it in somewhat unconventional ways at first.
He’ll be gone on a mission, sometimes for weeks at a time and while he’s gone, he’ll notice a rock that he thinks Johnny would like. Maybe he’ll see a flower a press it into one of the books in his kit, drying it so he can give it to the sergeant later. Once or twice, he’s even brought back a colorful piece of glass or a marble.
And Johnny keeps them all - he definitely teases Ghost about it. Compares him to a crow, in fact, but he loves it. He sketches every gift out in his journal and writes little notes about what Ghost tells him about where he was. What Ghost liked about where he was - he doesn’t want him to talk about the mission for a little bit. What did he find beautiful about the place he was? Why did the item catch his attention? Why did it make him think of Johnny?
Ghost doesn’t tell him it’s because he doesn’t feel so alone when it feels like he’s carrying a piece of Soap with him.
Okay, if Soap and Ghost were to get married, who do you think would take the other's last name?? Cause I've been thinking about this for DAYS. I even made a LIST.
So I'm just gonna. Put some of my thoughts down here and if anyone wants to throw in their thoughts, please do
So, Soap taking Ghost's last name is the idea I see done most often, and I do get why. The possessiveness aspect? Chefs kiss tbh, I just know deep in my heart that Ghost is a possessive Bastard. Also, I feel like Ghost definitely associates his last name with his father, and by extension his trauma, a lot, so I guess if Soap took it as well, it would allow Ghost to finally associate his last name with something good?
I'm personally more partial to Ghost taking Soap's last name tho. Once again, I hc that his last name is something that reminds him heavily of his father, kinda like a claim on him if that makes sense? So I could see him being quite happy getting rid of it and rather embracing Soap's, which he doesn't have that negative association with?
Also, if Simon Riley is legally, yknow, dead, that might be difficult for their marriage (unless Price or Laswell can pull some strings).
Last thing, I honestly can't decide if John Riley or Simon MacTavish sounds better but I think I'm leaning toward the latter?
