I joked a few minutes ago about how in internet discourse anyone over 25 is a “queer elder” but come to think of it most of these young discoursers don’t even believe such a concept exists. Gay men who watched their entire friends groups perish to AIDS are “privileged cis gays,” older trans women who use dated terminology to describe their own experiences are problematic, elders are just a conservative old guard to rebel against, and anyone over thirty who speaks to you at all must be a predator. The first time I heard the phrase “okay groomer” online, it wasn’t coming from self identified conservatives but from tiktok teens reacting against leather at Pride. You guys are ignorant and uncultured and proud of it!

Nobody hates you because you’re young. They hate you because you’re ignorant and annoying. Hope this helps.

Speaking as a “queer elder” (don’t really feel like one but shit if we’re joking about anyone older than 25 being one might as well roll with it). To my young queers (and my young LGBT+ folks who don’t use queer).

You are not getting pushback from the older segment of the queer community because you are young.

It’s because you came into the spaces we built for you and instantly tried to kick us out.

It’s because we opened the doors for you and you walked in and demanded that everyone you don’t like leave. You demanded that the kinksters, the crossdressers, the freaks and the weirdos, the non-binary trans folks, the people with conflicting identity labels, the people who apparently don’t enjoy their smut “the right way” leave.

It’s because you have thrown yourself into queer spaces with all the fucking audacity of a straight white woman raging at a rainbow flag in a grocery store, wailing about how it’s not appropriate for children.

It’s because you apparently think that you have some right to tell us, and other queer people your age, HOW to be queer.

It’s because a SCARY number of you think that using the word queer is bad in the first place.

It’s because so many of you have come here drowning in radfem rhetoric, and your response to being corrected is to scream “pedo!” At any queer peer who disagrees with your puritanical approach to kink and fantasy.

It’s because so many of you think that being LGBT+ means you can’t possibly hold onto the conservative values you grew up with, and when you’re called on it you attack anyone and everyone in your way.

Us queer elders aren’t hating on you because you’re young. It’s because you have come into the space we built- a space that we built on from what OUR queer elders built. Which was built on what THEIR queer elders built. And so on, all held up by a foundation of fucking blood of the queers who did not fucking survive, who we lost before I was born, and continue to be lost.

If we seem hostile to you and the ideology you bring? It’s because us elders know a threat when we see it. And the shit I see SO MANY of you young queers saying IS a threat. No different than the threats we’ve faced before. Except this time. It’s coming from inside the fucking house- and we won’t tolerate that.

100% That part up right there.

Me reading a really good book: god this makes me wanna write

Me reading a really bad book: ugh this makes me wanna write

Me having coffee: i wanna write

Me going on a drive: i wanna write

Me doing the dishes: i wanna write

Me waking up: i wanna write

Me writing:

This post came through my phone screen and wrung my neck like a chicken.

god my favorite part of knitting/crocheting/etc is watching string become fabric. crumpling it in my hands. this fabric would've never existed had I not willed it into being. it isn't fabric, it's time made physical. made material. isn't that the high of crafting? you mold time between your hands and put it into other people's hands. my least favorite part is when my cat tries to cram the whole yarn ball into his mouth

In all of my years of having ADHD, I’ve never had a doctor tell me this and I had to find out on my own after years of wondering what was happening, so just know that if you have ADHD and you get your period, it’s completely normal for your symptoms to worsen either before or during your period. Not only that, but typical ADHD medications are less effective. So if you’re ever struggling more than usual, it’s probably a good time to check what point of your cycle you’re in. More often than not, there’s a reason. Be gentle on yourself and give yourself plenty of patience.

Planned Parenthood got LOUDR 🔊 @ Tumblr

WHO THEY ARE:

Planned Parenthood’s mission is to ensure all people have access to the care and resources they need to make informed decisions about their bodies, their lives, and their futures. Founded in 1916, Planned Parenthood is a trusted health care provider, educator, and passionate advocate in the U.S. as well as a strong partner to health and rights organizations around the world. Each year, Planned Parenthood delivers vital sexual and reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of people.

WHAT THEY DID:

🩺 On October 1, 2021, Planned Parenthood partnered with Tumblr to rally supporters for abortion justice and defend access to abortions at 539 rallies in every state.

🩺 On September 3, 2021, Tumblr and Planned Parenthood partnered up in response to a Texas law that came into effect September 1, S.B. 8., effectively banning abortion in the state and asking private citizens to act as bounty hunters who “enforce” the law.

We made the following calls to action along with the graphic below:

Ways to take action:

Literally just invited my boyfriend over to my place so I could take a nap with him.

**AN OPEN LETTER TO REP. JAMES BAIRD AND SENATORS TODD YOUNG AND MIKE BRAUN:

ON THE SUBJECT OF YOUR SUPPORT FOR ABORTION BANS WITHIN THE STATE OF INDIANA AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

This began as a rant I thought I would never send. But why? Why should I remain silent when gagging me is your ultimate end goal? In that case, I have decided to raise my voice, to openly voice my concerns.

This is the original issue on which I meant to write to you: in the face of the Supreme Court’s abject failure to protect constitutional rights and revoke Texas’ unethical, cruel, and punishing six-week abortion ban, I call on you as my representatives to step up, do your job properly for once in your lives and protect my freedom and the freedom of millions of Americans by passing the EACH Act.

I know you won’t do this, however. Still, I must continue:

Unfortunately, your weak, misguided personal feelings on this matter are of no concern. Since you lack the very reproductive organs you seek to police, it should be imminently obvious that your opinions pale in comparison to my own: a woman and a person who does have this anatomy, and therefore, will suffer from the choices you make at my own expense.

As my representatives, you have the solemn duty to uphold the “general welfare” of the American people, as stated in our nation’s Constitution (which in other arguments you seem so inclined to defend). Barring individuals, women and those with certain reproductive organs from reproductive healthcare, regardless of your so-called religious views or ideals is unethical and reprehensible. Deputizing citizens to hunt down those seeking reproductive healthcare as if their right to obtain through Wade v. Woe is cruel, un-American and furthermore, un-Christian.

I will explain this, as it seems that you do not understand, and it would be stupid of me to speak to you on things you don’t understand: Six weeks pregnant is equal to being two weeks late for your period. This is a normal occurrence for many Americans who experience menstruation. Not understanding this critical fact brings into question your understanding of women’s reproductive anatomy. If you do not understand this anatomy, perhaps you should not be signing into law legislation which seeks to control it.

The simple fact is this: if I were to pass away, no one would be able to use my dead body for any purpose. Even if my organs could save lives, no one would be able to take them or use them unless I had given express permissions and my wishes to do so were made clear before my death. As it stands, women in America have less control and agency over their own bodies than dead people. Do you really care for women so little that you would give a dead person more agency?

Do not answer me in words. Answer in actions. Alas, I already know what the answer will be. I do not expect you to act or even reply to this letter in a way that is satisfactory to me. At every turn you have opposed that which I have sought to make this country a better and more sustainable union for myself and the disenfranchised. I do not expect you to change, because you are motivated by cruel and shallow motives. You use religion as a shoddy front to maintain control over those you have systematically kept from power: women, people of color, immigrants, those in poverty, the disabled, those with religious beliefs different from your own, and those without religious beliefs at all.

Maybe one day you will change. Maybe you will even read through this whole letter I have penned and a seed of doubt and shame will be planted within you. I don’t expect this, however. I doubt you even read your own letters, based on your previous canned and impersonal responses to my previous pleas for justice.

At every turn you seek to take away from women and those with certain reproductive systems that define us as human and equal: autonomy over our own bodies. The freedom to choose when and if to start a family. If a seventeen-year-old girl applied to adopt a child, the agency would reject her immediately, tell her exactly why she is unprepared for the responsibility of a child, and send her home to her parents. If a seventeen-year-old girl becomes pregnant by any means, you would force her to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term, allow her body to go through the trauma of pregnancy and childbirth, perhaps even die in childbirth.

You and your respective offices seem intent on ignoring basic empathy, science, and humanity in order to use cherry-picked Christianity to assert control over women and individuals with certain reproductive anatomy. As a Christian, I am ashamed of your actions. As a Christian, I pray every day that you will see justice for how you use His name in vain. How many years until you begin stoning us then, too? Perhaps you’ll call it the Honesty in Copulation Act or the Reproductive Honesty Act or some such bullshit.

Every day I pray that Margaret Atwood does not become this generation’s prophetic Bradbury. Maybe you should listen to women. Maybe you should pick up her book and see how things might turn out if you are insistent on this path of cruelty.

Go ahead. Take away my rights to my own body. But you should know I and many others will fight you every inch of the way, and we will not go quietly. It is my honor to represent women, but it is my duty to fight you.

Most Insincerely,

Your Betrayed Constituent,

**I have redacted the name I signed when I submitted this letter to these representatives' offices in order not to dox myself.
