From the morning before last. Clover is blooming in the grass now, looking lovely.
Great bustard (her name is Gertrude)
On this day 8 years ago, I wasn’t even birding. I was looking at rocks. And I saw an absolutely amazing bird! I learned later that her name is Gertrude and she’s half tame but at the time I couldn’t believe my eyes.
And oh yeah I was at Stonehenge.
Another farm road tempting me in.
I saw a baby groundhog this morning, and its mama who was keeping eye on me. I was glad to see them because I haven’t been seeing any where I always used to see them. At least someone is carrying on the species!
When you’re taking a video of the flowers because the chimes sound nice and a squirrel runs right by your feet
Blue flag iris, Iris versicolor.
There’s a little copper iris, Iris Gil a, mixed in with it along an inlet at the lake. They were planted as native(ish) plants by a nature-minded lake association and they’re beautiful.
A few along the lake early yesterday.
Indigo bunting singing. I took video but it is awful. For some reason I couldn’t keep my hands steady. So this is all I have to offer.
Early sunlight through the mist in the inlet at the lake.
Yesterday I took so many pictures. Sometimes it’s so hard to choose what to post that I just give up.
I saw a turkey vulture sunning itself on a post yesterday.
I tried a time lapse of the moving mist but I should have waited longer before stopping it. Now I know. I’ll post a real time video of this tomorrow.
Late May on Pine Creek Road.
The porch display is starting to come together.
