I like Star Wars. A Lot.

Any of my BC followers know of resources for finding a therapist that is covered by MSP?

I need help, but it's gotta be covered. The last time I had a therapist I was referred by my doctor, but that was a total disaster and I'm not keen on going through my doctor again, I prefer to choose one myself.

(checks the news) oh twitter added a post limit. i guess thats fair, i dont think many people exceed 300 posts a day anyways so i dont see why we're welcoming refugees agai

.

IT'S A POST READING LIMIT?

I have adhd. One of the things that does is make me very susceptible to short video clips and infinite scrolling. If I'm not careful, I can easily end up swiping to the next clip all night. And not in a metaphorical "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse" way, but in a very literal "it was 10pm when I started and it is now 8am" way. It is the worst and I hate it.

Unfortunately, because it's a very lucrative model, most social media platforms have adopted some form of it so they can have a slice of that sweet money pie. Facebook has "Stories", Instagram has "Reels", YouTube has "Shorts", and Tik Tok is Tik Tok.

Initially it was pretty easy to avoid, but as time goes on, they're pushing it more and more. Instagram is practically unusable for me at this point. You're a photo sharing app Instagram, why the fuck do you need "Reels"? It's marginally easier to avoid on FB, but not by much. I almost solely use the FB messenger app at this point, and they're even trying to push it there now.

I don't really have a point beyond that the situation sucks, and I legitimately worry that this trend isn't just unhealthy for me, but for everyone.

Rough day. Rough week.

I've got nothing left in the tank.

Anyone interested in saving me, now is as good a time as any.

Dungeons and Drag Queens is out, and I have no one to watch it with.

A grasshopper landed on the window screen by the cat tree. Swee'pea wanted it so much.

She had her little paws on the window, she was making that chattering noise, She kept changing platforms trying to get different angles at it.

And then it flew away. She sat there for a few moments, front paws pressed against the glass, staring out into nothing. Finally, she let out the most pathetic squeak of a cry.

It was very cute. She knows she's a great hunter, she feels it deep down in her bones, she just needs the chance to prove herself.

Someone on my idpol post put in the tags “I DO think cis people should tell everyone they are cis tho.” I don’t! I don’t think cis people should need to disclose it. I don’t think straight people need to disclose that. I don’t think anyone should be forced to reveal their gender and sexuality labels no matter what they are, actually!

“It’s bare minimum as an ally” It’s not!!!! They’re not required. They don’t have to. It’s not that they “should”, they very much should not unless they want to. Straight trans people exist, that you desperately want to “out” as an ally and not a member. Questioning people who haven’t made a decision and default to “straight” or “cis” shouldn’t be forced to reveal themselves to you.

A well-meaning asshole in one of my zoom classes once approached me for being one of the only people who didn’t add pronouns to my name and suggested I add pronouns to “show (I’m) an ally.” Buddy, not only am I trans, I am so trans that I was struggling so deeply to distinguish what pronouns I wanted to use, after changing them in the past, and not only use but use in a legal professional setting.

The absence of pronouns wasn’t an absence of support, it was keeping a private struggle private until I knew how I wanted to be addressed. The most bland ass cishet looking motherfucker in the world could be grappling with an identity so complex it would make you puke, OR they could be cishet and it would be equally none of your business until they decided to disclose.

Too much telling people what they ought to do and not enough accepting them as they are.

I'm not the kind of person who thinks there is only one correct interpretation of a character or dynamics because seeing how much you can do within the established parameters of these things is one of the best parts of fandom. But some people don't actually have anything I could meaningfully call an interpretation of a character, they just pick one to three of the characters established traits and then puppet them around based on how they think that particular character archetype should behave. And it's infuriating to watch. It's not even "he would not say this" it's "nobody would ever say this, you have created something that is so derivative and generic that it fails to even crudely mimic human behavior." And yes believe me I understand that this literally doesn't matter at all but this is where my peak autism lies, and bitching on Tumblr is the most socially acceptable way to channel those feelings.
