It's like, everything a trans woman says gets twisted to mean the opposite thing and slapped in a callout post. it's not just piss poor reading comprehension it's willful misinterpretation.

really have no patience for people who say they want 'accountability' or 'an apology' and then criticize apologies for not performing remorse in the way they'd personally prefer. makes it really clear that what they actually want is the thrill of having inflicted visible emotional pain
Doesn’t help with how often the case is that the thing they demand an apology for is less of an offence and more of a disagreement.
I get this on some scopes, but its understandable for victims or those concerned a similar grievance may occur to them or just generally in the worls (especially in the realm of creator/celebrity apologies), you want to see the telltale signs of sincerity so you know the individual actually understands the harm they caused and is therefore unlikely to repeat it and/or you feel heard as a victim.
what about the people for whom what neurotypicals perceive as 'telltale signs of sincerity' don't come naturally because they have a PD or are autistic or have a flat affect or whatever else under the sun? it's v. easy to say 'oh well these people don't have to comply to that standard' but in practice you don't know who has what condition and if you're not willing to take people's word for it that they understand they've done harm then the criteria you use to decide who is 'sincere' are going to be ableist ones that privilege neurotypical affects and modes of expression

Someone smarter than me has probably gone into the semiotics of it but this kind of non-graph -- whose primary purpose is to mystify readily available and perfectly readable information which suggests a conclusion disagreeable to the graphmaker -- it has to serve some function beyond simple lying. It has to reflect some kind of magical thinking, a belief in taking an inconvenient truth and physically overstriking it on printed paper as a form of curse. The reliability with which graphs like this appear on major news networks and prestige periodicals, where the audience includes the nation's most powerful businessmen and politicians, has to reflect some kind of ritual behavior. My money's on its use as propaganda itself being ritual behavior, a blunt assertion that the truth is whatever the powerful make of it. The availability to the public is not an accident and the clarification of how asinine it is by regime opponents seems to be part of the ritual
