Hey! I'm Ronnie. Any/All pronouns. these days I mostly yell about Pokemon, ttrpgs, and theology, but really anything I'm not picking a theme here

Adding Wildsea to the list of "Games I SUPER DUPER want to play but my table isn't interested in so somebody please kidnap me and bring me to a table playing it"

me: “yeah I dated a guy in high school who came out as gay. it was before i knew i was a boy so needless to say it didn’t work out”

coworker: “damn dude was preordering”

other things this coworker (who is a cis guy) has done/said:

—got confused about why I’d never been a boy scout because he forgot i was trans

—told me he was gonna get top surgery scar tattoos to match me after i get mine

—laughs at all my trans jokes, even if they’re supremely unfunny

—calls me big dog (and him little dog) even though he is about as tall as two of me

— “I can’t believe she would say that transphobic thing to you. In June? Pride month?”

Once I said "My gender is whatever's funniest at the time" and my coworker stops dead in his tracks, turns slowly and says "So are your pronouns honk/honk?" killing me instantly

Plus his name was Henry and he called himself Indiana after their dog that he loved, so could even be Henrietta Jones and still call herself Indiana and NOTHING NEED CHANGE AT ALL.

I’m a woman and my last name is Jones?? What the literal fuck

Your name is Jonesette now I’m sorry.

my favorite love language is trying, actually

like when people try to learn your hobbies or try to play the same sports that you play in an effort to get closer to you, people who try to love you the way you love people, people who will go to places you want to visit just for your sake, people remembering, putting in an effort. just. trying

And this is just recently. They literally always showed up at peaceful events Black people organized and met them with violence. The major difference was that in 2020, everybody who was never there before began to see it on their internet while they were stuck in the house.

So, they took the previous notion of "we weren't there, so we don't know what really happened" and copped out with the idea that violence doesn't help others stop being violent towards you...

TF. If they're being violent, they deserve violent reactions and any other reaction is simply only going to last until they react even more violently. So fuck it, we rage.

I don't mean to be callous but when I talk about walkability/transit and someone says "what about people who live out in the country" I'm like yeah, what about them? What does that have to do with how people in cities get around?

Avatar

I have a post very explicitly about pedestrian fatalities in disenfranchised neighborhoods and how people who can't afford cars are treated as second class citizens and someone commented "tell me y'all don't live 20 miles from the nearest town without telling me." I've had an IRL conversation where the guy interjected "well there are starving people in remote West Virginia, that's the REAL poverty." And it's worth asking, why do you valorize and sympathize with rural poverty but not urban poverty? JK, I know why.

you know everyone, in addition to what rthko is saying, in countries with functional transit, the people in rural areas ALSO can walk on to buses and trains. because the public transit goes to those places. walkability also means you can live in a farming community and catch a train to the city on the weekend. this is the reality in many places in europe and japan. a long time ago i accompanied my boyfriend-at-the-time to a series of techno festivals all over germany without a car and it was fine. the trains just went everywhere, even the smaller towns. for less dense areas there was a lot of support for biking as well.

Incredible new thing happening with Elon today: he fired a disabled Twitter engineer for prima facie discriminatory reasons, trashed talked the ex-employee on Twitter and then discovered this employee came to Twitter by way of an acquisition of that employee's software start up and the sale contains a clause that if Twitter terminates his employment it has to pay him 100 million for the software he developed. The fact Elon Musk might have to personally sell of Tesla stock to meet this obligation has caused Tesla's share price to dip yet again.

Also Musk deleted his tweet trashing the employee but it's preserved and being reposted by multiple Twitter users, at least until Musk can figure out a way to nuke the screen grabs from orbit.
