And most of this is no longer canon (if it ever was, as many of the sources are RPG expansion guides that were always low on the canon list), but I find it interesting and often times useful since we have so few specifics on Tatooine otherwise! I’ve chosen to focus on Mos Eisley for this post, as it’s a resource for post-ROTS era Tatooine’s major happenings, but eventually I’ll do posts for other cities and Tatooine as a whole, I hope. → Still Further Notes: This post will refer several times to numbers on a Galaxy Guide 7 - Mos Eisley information post, which was too long to include in this already long post. It’s an RPG guide, so it was always of dubious canonicity, but it was included for the sake of completion and because if may be of some use! → Conflicts: Occasionally things will contradict each other, especially in regards to layout of the city. When in doubt, I put priority on the first Mos Eisley map, but still included the other maps and info for the sake of “well, maybe I can readjust this to use it another way”. → Thoughts: When I started this post, my initial impression was, “Why the fuck is there so much happening on Tatooine?? It’s supposed to be the ass end of nowhere!” but one of the notes along the way mentioned that it sits near a crossection of several space travel lanes, so it’s a stopover for a lot of ships and sees a fair amount of traffic (hence all the restaurants and cheap hotels and almost a hundred docking bays). It’s just that nobody ever wants to stay and they can’t wait to leave, so it’s still an ass end of nowhere planet, really. [ Tatooine tag for further references ]
