which may still be true, but now I know the actor (and therefore, I imagine, the character) has an old back injury that this is an entirely-unremarked-upon accommodation for, and disability representation onscreen pleases me

As soon as I noticed this I never un-noticed it but frankly I always thought it was charming - knowing it’s a disability accommodation just improves upon it.

Star Trek Discovery just wrote in a new character who uses a wheelchair in order to accommodate Kenneth Mitchell who had been hiding his ALS diagnosis because of how it would hurt his acting career. They had never shown his actual face before on the show (he was always in full Klingon makeup) so they introduced him playing a new disabled character and it honestly has been a really cool addition to the show.

Admit it, this had to be done ;)

Discovery S03E12 ‘The Good of the People’

Anthony Rapp’s performance shattered my heart.

I thoroughly enjoyed Osyraa being fleshed out in all her complexity, as well as the introduction of Aurellio the scientist, and of course Tilly and the rest of the bridge crew being badasses, and all the amazing performances of all the actors, really.

But Paul Stamets. Gods. Nothing else in Discovery ever hurt like this.

Paul Stamets and Hugh Culber are the Most accurate gay representation bc they saw a baby queer and immediately went "Oh, we're your dads now btw"

The fact that this also apparently happened IRL with the actors on set between Wilson/Anthony and Blu/Ian is also Very Good
