Feels like all my life I’ve been seeing finger-wagging about how it’s more virtuous to write about regular folks, and how dumbass fantasy fans just project themselves onto princes and princesses because they’re in denial that their ancestors did physical labor, and I’m like, “irrelevant. Sometimes you just want to see sibling rivalry escalate to stabbings”

I'm fine with it but I read alot of otome isekai and it basically devloes Into some weird propaganda with "actaully royalty was always good" and shows peasants as these greedy assholes who are always troubling there superior noble masters

People start rewriting history cause wow rich people have it way worse and slavery was acually good

Am I the only one that gets so attached to characters that I feel get fucked over in stories that I wind up not being able to enjoy the story as is? Like I started reading “Who Made Me a Princess” and I’m so frustrated at Jeanette’s treatment; both by the comic and the fandom (especially the fandom). Her and Athy literally just switched roles from their LP versions. Like is anyone going to acknowledge that there is NO reason the two can’t coexist?? Neither of the girls care too much about the throne and it’s not like they can’t be siblings (or cousins since that’s what they actually are), Claude isn’t going to suddenly start despising Athy because Jeanette’s around. It’s already revealed he hated Athy because he blamed her for Diana’s death. If Claude is somehow incapable of loving more than one child than shouldn’t we as an audience direct the blame at him rather than act like Jeanette’s ruining Athy’s life? I dislike how the story is determined to take everything Jeanette had and give it to Athy and how the fandom is reveling in her misery like she somehow earned it.

....i feel horrible for even going down this train of thought but I need to say it.

I am proud of Iman Vellani, the fact that she has been casted as Ms Marvel is not at all an easy feat. Especially when the industry is so restricted to immigrants and poc. I hope she blows it out of the park as Ms Marvel, and god do i hope this kid can deal with being in the industry as young as she is.

That said, I most definitely am upset that a girl with darker skin wasn't casted. Kamala cannonically has dark skin. Some people don't understand why this is so important but a lot of south asians will.

Because how many dark skinned south Asian actors and actresses in Hollywood can you name? Off the top of your head, it'll only be handful right. That's what i thought.

If you look at south asian media, its always pretty light skinned people who are cast in high class/caste protagonists roles, made out to be the hero, and always dark skinned people made to be servants, those living in poverty or any and all bad guys. The south asian industry absolutely discriminates against those with dark skin, by shoving down skin lightening treatments on tv and just flat out unapologetic colorism.

When they announced Ms Marvel, i was hoping that something like this wouldn't happen. And yet, here we are, as expected. When our own industry turns out dark skinned individuals I didn't expect Hollywood to be handing out roles with eagerness.

But it still stings.

Personal Ikesen Rankings

Since sometimes these memes go around :3c I actually don't have a personal romantic interest in any of the guys, but I do care about most of them, and I spend a lot of time thinking about writing about them!

So, in terms of who I like the most:

1. Kennyo & Ranmaru: Reika's fambly. I have a lot of emotional investment in this trio (Kennyo × Reika, and Ranmaru as son). There are moments in canon where I want to punt Kennyo off a cliff, but for the most part I find him to be an incredibly compelling fallen-hero character. Kennyo before he became a villain would be hands down my fave for many reasons, and in the routes where his villainy isn't cuckoo bananapants, he's still my fave because he has all those qualities and an interesting moral struggle. Ranmaru shot to the top because of his narrative connection to Kennyo LMAO fjdjdjjfjf I love one pink son

2. Shingen & Masamune: The two whose blend of ideals and attitude I appreciate the most. They're both very personable and laid-back, but they've got very strong convictions and will fight with everything they have to make a better world for their people of all stations in life. Shingen is also elevated by his best friend status with Kennyo. They're just both kind of insufferable when they're treating women casually.

3. Sasuke, Mitsuhide, Yoshimoto: Their personalities, motivations, and habits interest or entertain me the most after the above four. There's a higher likelihood that I'll read their stories.

4. Mitsunari and Motonari: Mitsunari's a cutie and a very good boy. Motonari is Kennyo's hilarious and terrible friend, and the love of my friend Lou's life, so for a villain, he has managed to climb his way up the rankings much further than usual.

5. Ieyasu: Not one of my faves but for whatever reason, I still like him a little more than the remainder. Maybe it's because he loves animals and his sourness leads to humorous scenarios. Adds a little lemon zest.

6. Hideyoshi & Yukimura: They're nice and I like them, but I find them less personally compelling than the people above. Mostly I like them in relation to other characters. On their own, they're just not people I find particularly interesting. ^^;;;

7. Nobunaga & Kenshin: I like them primarily when they're used for comedic value. Their personalities put me off the most (okay, Motonari's in there too), and they do some things that make me highkey 😬, but I still regard them fondly. Nobunaga I might like a little more just based on the fact that he is ultimately trying to make a more equitable world and a Japan that can defend itself.

8. Keiji: Has an interesting design.

9. Kanetsugu: Bad hair, boring face, rude.

10. Kicho: Die. Gender bends that remove important historical women are shitty, and Kicho's role in Ikesen in particular makes me want to murder him. You'll see why in Kennyo's route.

Cybird has a problem with gendebending important women. Jeanne d Arc for example. Now tell me if that makes sense

Wouldnt be spurised if they genderbent mulan in future games. It's the same level as jeanne d arc
