My Season

Honey crisp,

the bite of her words 

from her lips.

Cheeks redder than roses

but sweeter than apples.

I don’t know if the cold

will curl up in my bones

if I’ve settled for warmth

as fervent as chapels.

Arms that can handle,

a body that shakes,

There’s relief in the comfort of

lemon and cake.

I love this time,

when your fingers entangle in mine

and we’re off on our own.
