So let’s talk about Peridot’s new form for a second

We all saw this new precious green slice of key lime pie today yes yes? Well. Not saying that this was definitely intentional, but there are some parallels between her new form and the other crystal gems.

I’d like to think that she took inspiration from them :)

OKAY. 

But one of the most beautiful and real and honest things about this that just gets me right in the feels?

JASPER STILL HAS HORNS AND DISCOLORED PATCHES. As do several of the other corrupted gems that had turned into monsters. 

Why?

Because the kind of trauma they underwent leaves scars. You may be healed in other ways, and more effective/healthier, but there are still scars. 

Giving Jasper and the others visible, physical scars symbolically represents that PTSD and trauma aren’t just ‘fixed’. They leave their mark. 

And that just….it’s beautiful. Because it’s real.
