The US National Black Doll Museum closed their doors due to Covid-19, and they lost their physical location.

During the month of February 2022, which is Black History Month in the US, they are trying to raise $100,000 for a new physical location in Attleboro, MA (USA). Please consider donating. You do not need to choose any of the default amounts. Click "Just helping" at top right (after clicking the support button) and type in the amount you would like to give. If 8,500 people gave $10 USD each, they would meet their fundraising goal. Donations are tax-deductible charitable donations in the US.

I’m hoping to get some help identifying an ABS doll. Someone on IG sent me this information and is trying to find out if the doll is a plastic recast of a resin doll.

The person says that the doll was purchased on AliExpress from a shop called “MR sam.” The brand is listed as zsksm. Below are photos.

Please let me know if you recognize this sculpt or have info on that seller. Thanks!

I never forgave her after she showed up at a Portland doll meet with recasts.

I’m sure the gimmick has been done somewhere before, but I think the coolest thing to do with a dollhouse line would be to make each room able to connect to the others but sold separately.  Then you like, hook them together in any configuration you want.  want a sprawling ranch style house? Not today? Let’s make it a victorian house.  Or maybe a mod style brick house.  If you did it where the proportions were like 1:1 1:2 1:3 you could have different sized rooms too.  So maybe a bedroom is 1:1 and the basic kitchen is 1:1 but the deluxe kitchen is 1:2.  You could even have apartment parts that are 1:½.  Bathrooms could be the same size. 

There could be special roof attachments you can swap out, like a castle crinolated top.  Or a clock tower.  God, build your own Winchester Mansion! Make special parts for creating historical archetecture!  What about a bottom floor store front style?  Walk ups.  GOD.  You could do so much!

I’ve noticed a resurgence in interest in the miniature scene because of “fairy houses” and those little room boxes from Japan, so I’m hoping that will see a resurgence in proper doll houses too.  Wouldn’t that be wonderful?  To have a doll renaissance where we could find actual well designed, well made, and not hot pink and purple doll furniture?  Back to the era of Suzy Goose?  Maybe, dare I say it, HEMMED doll clothes with trim???  Maybe it’ll get really crazy and we’ll get real buttons.

I have three 9in Little Parfaits in Strawberry Milk skintone still up on my IG!  She’s $200 + shipping.  Face-ups are $25 and body blushing is $60.  Both are done in alcohol ink which may stain the doll if it’s removed(91% alcohol will take it right off).  I work better with the more water-color like nature of the alcohol inks and it’s more durable as well.
