Anime "House of Lee" on Bruce Lee is happening by 2024. What's your take on the anime part. What will the anime present ?

Avatar

It looks very Fist of the North Star-ish and that’s a good thing. Although I’m sure it’ll lack the violence.

Going the anime route with Bruce is a good idea though. They can really capture his essence without the super fans picking apart an actor.

Although I’m not the biggest anime fan, I’ll watch it. I’m not sure what they’ll bring to the table but I’m interested in finding out.

Kiss of the dragon with jet li is so underrated in terms of fight scenes

Personally, I don’t think so. I think it’s suitably rated since a LOT of people love that film. I’d say that not enough people talk about the dojo/gym fight though. The focus is always on the fight with the “twins.”

But I think Kiss of the Dragon is pretty universally loved. Especially by those that haven’t really explored Jet Li’s filmography.

Hey everyone. I now have a YouTube channel! I’ll be posting weekly videos, including video episodes of the podcast, our new “Fight Bites” series and interviews with people from the martial arts community. There’s just a smattering of videos up right now but I’d love if you could check us out.

over the course of a life i have seen many things. i seen the ups and downs come and go. some times its a stress out dealing with this shit. that's why throwing on a good kung fu flick gives me some energy. i like to watch a fight and see someone win.

I feel you. It’s important to do whatever we can to get through the shit. If a good kung fu movie is a little bit of therapy for you then that’s awesome. I actually tend to watch kung fu movies when I’m feeling upbeat but when I’m down, I’ll throw on some heartbreaking shit like Blue Valentine or Portrait of a Lady on Fire. I’m a wallower (is that a word?). Whatever gets us through, right?

Help me Fu For Thought, you're my only hope ...

Years ago you were kind enough to identify "Two Champions of Shaolin" for me when I couldn't remember where I had seen the guy get his junk pulled off while doing a flying side kick. There's another scene I remembered recently - or maybe hallucinated.

Hero Gordon Liu is talking to Bad Guy Lo Lieh. (Or I may only remember it as him because it was definitely Ted Thomas doing the dub.) Anyway. Bad Guy says "In martial arts ... there are always purges. Nothing to be done about it." Hero replies, "In that case ... I think I'll carry out a purge of my own!" Fight kicks off.

Is that a real scene, or did I imagine the whole thing?

Thanks very much for your help.

This one has me stumped and I think I know why. Since this is a dub track, my memories will be hazy. I’m not trying to come off as pretentious but I watch my kung fu films with subtitles most of the time. So it may be that I haven’t heard this sound bite in a while.

The whole “purge” thing sounds like something Pai Mei would say, so I would have guessed that it was Clan of the White Lotus.

If it’s not that one, here are a few more films Lo Lieh features alongside Gordon Liu…

Fists and Guts

The 36th Chamber of Shaolin

Executioners of Shaolin

Dirty Ho

Sorry I couldn’t help with this one! Good luck!

I didn't know that both Tony Jaa and Ike Uwais are in Expendables 4. What are your thoughts on the trailer and series as a whole?

The trailer did absolutely NOTHING for me. It looked like the most generic action film of all time. We get Statham and Fox rolling around like it wasn’t done years ago in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and then we get a bunch of fairly average action sequences. Even Iko Uwais and Tony Jaa didn’t impress in the trailer. But let’s be honest, when’s the last time Tony Jaa impressed us?

I see potential but this trailer didn’t exactly stoke my anticipation.

As for the rest of the series, the first film is solid, the second one is fine and the third on is straight gash.

Prison abolition defund the police and all that but remember when Robocop shot that dude’s dick off?

Damn right. You’ll hear me cry “Fuck the police” but never “Fuck RoboCop.”

Anonymous asked:

Hey. Have you ever had mixed feelings on RoboCop (1987)? I like how it satirizes corporate over-reach, but I don't like how it kind of fails to satirize police brutality. RoboCop, to me at least, feels like what would happen if you tried to make the tough-on-crime police officers of 70s and 80s action out to be unironic superheroes to *very mixed* results.

RoboCop’s fucking ace and I think people ruin it for themselves by trying to read between the lines too much. It’s just a great action film. You don’t have look for all its metaphors and social commentary. Just enjoy it for a half man, half robot shooting a rapist in the cock ‘n’ balls.

I’ve never had mixed feelings towards it. I’ve loved it since my early teens. Haven’t watched it in a while but I have faith that it still holds up.

Was Bruce Lee 1/2 German ethnicity & was he bisexual?

I don’t recall reading that he was half German. I believe his mother was of English descent and one of his grandparents or great grandparents were Dutch, I think.

As for his sexuality, I’m pretty sure he was pretty straight. I mean, when he was off his trolly on cocaine, who knows? He may have sucked some balls. But I believe it’s largely believed he strictly liked vagina. Plus, the ladies he slept with said he was fucking glorious between the sheets. If he shagged a guy, I would have thought they’d have come forward and said “Bruce Lee crashed my back door in.” Just to get a few dollars, if anything.

Hey, Fu for Thought? You seem like a cool dude. I wish you happiness and congratulations on your marriage.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words. It’s people like you that make this place dope.

I’ve been married four years now and we’re going strong! No bumps in the road. Nothing but wedded bliss. I’m a lucky dude.

I wish YOU the best, Anon. I hope all is well in your life.

Hello. If someone said to you "hey I broke up a relationship I was three months into because my partner wouldn't put out", would you think they were kind of selfish and petty? IMHO It's not the end of the world and no one's owed a relationship, but it's a little rude.

This is a tough one. It all hinges on how important sex is to someone. For some, sex is an integral part of a relationship and is a core way for them to express their passion. With that said, three months isn’t THAT long and if the relationship’s good, you shouldn’t sacrifice it for the sake of some dick/pussy. Sex isn’t the be all, end all.

But we live in a time where sex takes precedent. Should it? No. But it does. We’re told fucking is the most important act you can perform from a young age. Pussy and dick are the holy grail. You simply MUST get it. Preferably by the time you’re 15 years old or some other crazy age.

But sex comes and goes. If you’ve got something good, stick with it. If sex really is THAT important to you, sit down with your partner and talk. Explain why it’s important. Explain the weight it has. But take a partner’s opinion into consideration too. It’ll come in time (unless you’re dating someone asexual and, in that case, things are different).

Stop worrying about fucking and start worrying about companionship, love etc. You can get around to shagging a little later. Three months isn’t THAT crazy. I think I waited longer than three months to have sex with my now wife.

Have you watched "Fog hill of five elements". Season 1 has only 03 episodes. Not sure if you are into animations. Here, the animation is AWESOME. Would like to know your thoughts. Do watch it if you haven't seen it yet.

Where did you watch it? I’ve been itching to see it for ages but haven’t been able to find a subtitled version. Is it streaming somewhere?

The martial arts cinema corner of Tumblr is an absolute wasteland these days. Either everyone’s fucked off or just no one gives a fuck anymore. I mean, it was never a bustling Metropolis of traffic or anything, but there was conversation and people seemed genuinely interested in the genre.

“Action Twitter” is cool and all but I’ve always considered Tumblr the place where I found my footing in the action community. It’s sad to see it the way it is these days.

Maybe Tumblr’s done for. Or maybe I should be done with Tumblr. Either way…sad.
