When I was little I really wanted to grow up fast, so I could develop thick, strong, manly fingernails to pick apart even the most stubbornly infused Lego blocks like a boss. That’s the day you truly become a man.

“Daniel Fry discovered this brochure in boxes of LEGOs at his grandmother’s house and posted it to Reddit. He told HuffPost that “I was surprised at what a modern message it was and how simply and eloquently it communicated a very powerful idea. I thought people would be interested to see that such a well-known brand like LEGO was so progressive 40 years ago.” As many toys, including LEGOs, have become increasingly gender segregated since the 1980s, Fry thinks this message from many years ago offers an important lesson for parents of today’s young children: “I hope people will be reminded of how important it is not to lock their children in to playing with one type of toy, and to let them play how they want to, to nurture creativity and individuality.”

I love my birds but...

My BCC Bertie, he can sometimes get interesting if I am playing a computer game in his room. Bertie: Come'ere! Come'ere!

Me: I can’t Honey, I’m doing this fight and I’ll be right over.

Bertie: Peek-a-boo! Peek-aaaa-BOO!

Me: Yes, Bertie, I said, I’m almost done.

Bertie: Who’s a good bird? Bertie! Bertie’s a good bird, good boy. Good boy Bertie!

Me: Yes, you are a good bird. Bertie is a very good boy. I’m almost done

Bertie: Want papaya. Good boy. Good boy want papaya.

Me: Yes, I am almost done, then you will get papaya.

Bertie: Papaya! Bertie papaya! 

Me: Almost there.

Bertie: Papayaaaa. Want the papaya. Good boy want the papaya. Papaya, papaya, papayaaaaa…

I finish the fight.

Me: Ok! Going to come give Bertie papaya!

Bertie squeals and comes over to the edge of the cage.

Bertie: Papaya in wata! In wata, in wata. (he wants it in the water and will drop it if I don’t dip it)

I give him the dipped papaya.

Bertie: Tank-u! Good girl.

I think there’s probably a pretty good chance that it will happen someday. Probably not during Biden’s lifetime, and Caesar Rodney is safe, but I’d be stunned if Biden wasn’t Delaware’s other representative in the National Statuary Hall within the next 30-40 years.
