Fuck Yeah Varric

I think one thing that needs to be accounted for in da2 is that. Its the only dragon age game where none of the companions have any obligation to be around each other apart from friendship and loyalty. Dao they're fighting to stop the literal blight. Dai they're part of an organisation to save the world. And that's not to say that dao and dai don't have genuine and meaningful friendships between the companions, they do! But their born from a very different sort of situation. Nobody in Kirkwall has to join Hawke, they just do. No one has to spend their free time at the hanged man, they just do. And I think that any analysis of the various relationships within the da2 group have to be seen through that lens: completely voluntary, with no outside force acting on their decision to stay together as a group.

Something in da4 that would be REALLY fuckin funny to me is if Varric is just around to explain plot holes left from da2. If the plot demands that Fenris or Anders or both be alive when the player has a file where one/both dies, they should just show up and someone turns to Varric like "didn't you write that they died" and Varric should just shrug
