To the men and women that stay up with you on those late, assiduous nights, coaxing you into an awe. They'll sleep with you after you flip through the pages of their stories. They'll never disappoint you or make you feel awkward. And let's face it, you've already stalked their lives. History never looked so attractive. --- We are run on submissions! Submit your crushes!

Albert the 1st, King of the Belgians Even as king he worked to improve the lives of the Belgian people, like when he was a prince he would go undercover and working in the coal mines to see what conditions were like. He even fought alongside his troops in World War One and is honored through a Sabaton song. I don’t really like monarchs but there is something different about Albert.

If no one has brought it up yet: Ulysses. S. Grant. Man had some seriously sexy attitudes for the mid 1800s; he thought the Mexican American War was an unjust invasion and land grab, thought the policies against Native Americans were "shameful" (had a Seneca man write the terms of surrender for the Confederacy by extension), loved his wife so much he became an alcoholic when he was away from her, told her not to change a thing about herself when she was considering having surgery to correct her lazy eye, brought the feds in to investigate the KKK, freed the only slave he was ever given when he was deep in poverty instead of selling him, was so trusting he got caught up in scandal because he believed in the people around him-

Sorry this man is slept on so badly and he was so sweet and beautiful. He's been buried by the Lost Cause southern narrative and has some seriously progressive views for his time period. I love him very dearly.

Ahmed Rıza, was an Ottoman politician, writer, educator and the leader of the Young Turk movement. He lived in the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, and struggled to keep his homeland, which was about to collapse, alive throughout his life.

He tried to emphasize the unfairness of the Western Imperialism conducted in Anatolia in his works, and tried to defend the East against the West in the line of civilization.

No difficulties he faced could intimidate him and he continued to walk with a determined stance on the path he believed in, even though his friends distanced himself from him for the sake of self-interest or because of his "idealistic" ideas.

"His name was whispered in secret, with deep reverence and admiration. Ahmed Rıza was always rising and living in dreams, like an inaccessible high mountain, always out of sight, always covered with clouds. There were legends about him; stories and anecdotes were being told to show his greatness... As the administration of Abdulhamid defiled many of the freedom fighters who had fled to Europe and stained them with a greed for self-interest, Ahmed Rıza's irreconcilable, unyielding face rose in our hearts." -these are the words of the Turkish writer Huseyin Cahit Yalçın.

As a young lady, i could say that he is my SWEETHEART

Uh one of my history crushes is Erich Rudorffer. Even though he had no idea like "i will be a fighter pilot" or something, he ended up as being the highest scoring seventh ace in the world, fought all major theatres in war, became the person who downed most planes in one sortie, 16 times faced with death (7 crash land, 9 parachute jump to nearly qualify himself to part time fallschrimjäger)

But he just wanted to be a airline pilot-

Untouchable Elliot Ness, playboy crime fighter who brought down Al Capone and later was charged with suppressing moral turpitude among US troops in the Second World War despite his own fondness for night clubs, alcohol and women
