I love dark knight quests as a sort of epilogue of fray mystes life. on his deathbed frays mentor said boys go seek the flame in the abyss. and sid and fray were both like what is that. so they went looking, and they don’t “discover it”, but found rielle. and then fray dies still not knowing what that is. and the story begins. and if you believe it this way, the previous story continues for fray. and fray is angry in this afterlife, watching through wol. fray is mad that wol is bleeding on behalf of people in need of help. fray wants to save wol. wol doesn’t listen to them. fray is in your quest journal making snide additional comments. wol meets sidurgu and rielle. and sidurgu is angry. sidurgu is mad that he and fray were bleeding on behalf of people in need of help. and then rielle and the moogles are like sidurgu you are an ass. as a dark knight you cannot fault the people you save that you are voluntarily protecting them, and you should not only protect people to serve your own ego. The dark knights flame in the abyss is love. and sidurgu learns this. and if you want them to be watching through wol, still, fray learns this too. they are already dead. as they leave, they say to wol that I wanted to change you, but you changed me. I love you more than you will ever know.
