got a new book today! this one contains short stories from a bunch of authors including Haruki Murakami and Banana Yoshimoto. really looking forward to starting it after I finish the LingoMastery Japanese short stories collection!
I own this one as well, though I only ever read one or two of the stories. I should pick it up again.

The writing is in Japanese. Not sure what it says, but going by the rest of this, it can’t be accurate.
The top one is katakana, the Japanese alphabet traditionally used to spell out foreign words. It’s just spelling out “English French Toast”.
The bottom one I can’t parse because I don’t know the kanji, but it says Germany-something. Which is not promising.

This garden, built by the Japanese film star Ohkouchi Denjiro (1898-1962). He constructed this unique garden villa on the south side of Mt. Ogura over a 30 year period. The seemingly endless stroll paths lead to constantly changing views of the classic Japanese garden. The garden is perfect for viewing seasonal beauty at any time of year. In late years, it was appointed in cultural assets of this country.
