Are there any hc about Sev moving out and never 'forgiving' his parents? If not can you make one?
- The last time Severus went home, he was sixteen years old.
- He’d written home and asked to be collected from King’s Cross, lying and saying that Lily’s parents wanted to take her out as a celebration for completing her OWLS.
- He sat at King’s Cross for three hours before accepting that no one was coming to get him. A police officer had walked past three times before asking him what he was doing. Severus, in his shabby and ill-fitting muggle clothing, explained he was waiting for his mum but she had been delayed.
- He could tell the police officer was suspicious. Digging through his trunk he found the emergency galleon he kept stashed away. Dragging his trunk out of the station he stuck out his wand arm and after leaping out the way, climbed onto the Knight Bus.
- He asked for Spinner’s End, then settled back and watched the world whiz by outside. He found he wasn’t angry, or disappointed…just sad. The last year had been horrendous and he wanted his mum.
- Arriving home that evening, he knocked on the door but there was no answer. He was aware of the Knight Bus conductor watching him closely, he made some excuse about there being a family emergency and his mum was probably with his dad. The conductor asked if he was sure, Severus reassured him the best he could and was relieved when with a bang the bus left.
- His mum always kept the spare key on a bit of string, Severus never quite understood why she did this as she was a witch but his mum tried to avoid magic as much as possible so not to upset Tobias. So, reaching through the letterbox he managed to catch hold of the string and let himself into the house.
- The house was as dark, cramped and smelling as it always had been. There were empty beer bottles and dirty plates everywhere. Frowning, he opened the curtains and nearly had a heart attack when he saw his mum passed out on the sofa.
- Panicking slightly, he shook her shoulder. She didn’t move and she was cold. His heart racing, he reached for her pulse and at that moment she gave a snort and rolled over in her sleep. She was dead drunk, and by the looks of it, Tobias had given her another black eye.
- Walking through the kitchen and recoiling at the smell of rotten food, he risked opening the fridge and saw that it was empty. Flies buzzed around the kitchen and looking around, Severus felt angrier than he had ever done in his life.
- Not caring to be quiet, he slammed the fridge and stormed up the stairs. He threw as much as he could carry into his trunk, then lifting the floorboard under his bed he took out his stash of muggle money saved from all his summer jobs.
- The old privy at the bottom of the garden hadn’t been used since his parents had an inside toilet installed by the council a few years back so he stashed his belongings there and headed to his old den in the park. It was a squeeze as he was much taller now but he was reasonably hidden from the drunks who inhabited the park at night. He spent a cold and uncomfortable night.
- In the morning he retrieved his belongings and what was left of his wizard money, put out his hand and asked the Knight Bus to take him to Diagon Alley.
- Once there, he made his way to Jigger’s Apocathery and begged for a job. Jigger had met him at one of Slughorn’s parties and had been thoroughly impressed with what Slughorn told him of his potions skills. Jigger asked him why he wasn’t with his parents and to his shame (and he didn’t really know why), Severus started to cry.
- Alarmed, Jigger took him into the back room and made him a cup of tea. Severus told him the whole story.
- Jigger thought for some time and said that yes, he’d employ him for the summer and he could stay in the backroom. There was an old sofa and he should be reasonably comfortable. He could also have dinner with Jigger and his husband.
- He sent an owl to his mum telling here where he was. Three weeks later, she came by the shop to talk to him. She had a fresh black eye. Severus told her to leave Tobias. She said she couldn’t do that. He said it was Tobias or him.
- Severus watched her leave and at that moment knew he’d never see her again and he never forgave her for choosing the man who beat her and ruined her life over him.
