Do y’all think siblings in medieval times would look at the little beasts in illuminated manuscripts and point at each other like ‘ha! ‘Tis thou!’

You take a math test in school. After it's graded, you see that some of the answers are marked as wrong, but there's no indication of what the right answer is or where the mistake was made. You ask the teacher what you did wrong. The teacher takes that as an argument. The teacher assumes that asking what you did wrong implies that you refuse to believe that it's wrong.

Sounds ridiculous, right?

Well, that's exactly what happens to autistic people on a regular basis.

An autistic person does something wrong because they don't realize that it's wrong. As soon as they're informed that it's wrong, they immediately want to understand exactly why it's wrong and what they should have done instead. But this is taken as an argument.

Tips on dental hygiene with autism (from my dentist)!!

I went to the dentist a few weeks ago and I told her I'm autistic and that causes me sensory issues that make brushing my teeth regularly harder, and she was great about it and gave me some tips!

  1. Use disclosing tablets - you can get these on Amazon and at pharmacies. They colour your plaque so you can see where you need to brush.
  2. Brush your teeth at night and use mouthwash in the morning - it’s better to brush your teeth at night because it’s after you’ve eaten food so your teeth are easier to get properly clean then. Obviously, if you can, brush your teeth both times, but if you can only handle brushing your teeth once a day, do it at night.
  3. Use an electric toothbrush, if you can afford it. If you can’t brush your teeth that frequently, it’s better to use an electric toothbrush because it’ll clean your teeth better than a regular toothbrush. It’s better to get ab electric toothbrush either way, but especially if you don’t brush your teeth that often.
  4. Get a toothbrush with super soft bristles, this will make brushing your teeth less harsh on your mouth.
  5. If you struggle with mint toothpaste, it's ok to get a different flavour of toothpaste or just brush dry

These have helped me with my dental hygiene since, and I hope they'll help some of you guys

Note: don't be afraid to try out stuff that's different to what I recommended! Everyone's sensory needs are different and what works for me may not work for everyone else, e.g. some people can't use electric toothbrushes for sensory reasons, some people might need hard bristles, some people can't handle mouthwash, etc

"men are from mars, women are from venus" implies the existence of of 7 other genders in our solar system. As well as an infinite amount of genders spread across the entire universe. personally, I'm from Pluto

idk i think I'm just from space? the intergalactic void yk? like i just appeared out of almost nothing like the boltzmann brain

Reblog and describe your gender in the tags in a way cis people wouldn't get.

Mine is that gender is having the time of her life at a disco party while I'm spinning a Wheel of Pronouns where nothing except the he/him option is removed.

yk in movies when the character is in a blank space to symbolise their mind? well mine is a black blank space like that with some king of smoke or fog that you can see but there is no visible light source, this place feels humid and is a bit cold like an early spring morning.

The 2023 Gender Census is now open!

The 10th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 9th May 2023.

It’s short and easy, about 5 minutes probably.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful - it’s what helped us get 40,000 responses last year.

The survey is open to anyone anywhere who speaks English and feels that the gender binary doesn’t fully describe their experience of themselves and their gender(s) or lack thereof.

Thank you so much!

I love my village

I love how my younger sister can spend her entire day with her friends out there on their bikes without us getting worried

I love how when I see someone in the streets I can wave and say "Hello [name]!" and they'll always answer "Hi Eden, how are you?"

I love how I can just take my bike and go if i want to, without my parents being worried that I'll get run over

I love the fact that there are many farms and we get to see the cows and sheep and chickens

I love how my grandma has a garden big enough so that she can garden, something she loves doing

I love how if there is a problem in our farm, the other farmers will always be there to help, even if a rogue cow escaped in the middle of the night

I love how you can go outside and hear nothing except for the birds and the occasional cow

I love when my family gossips about little things that this person did or how that person didn't say hello

I love taking the bus with only people I know

I love how my parents best friends live a 5 minutes walk away and how their kids are my sister's best friends

I love how every weekend they will ring our doorbell and ask "Can [sister's name] go play with us?"

I love how I can just walk to my grandma's house whenever I want to visit her

I love how in harvest season, my dad will take my sister and I with him to give him company

I love how I grew up in proximity with animals which made me aware of how to treat them correctly

I love how every farmer love their animals and treats them with respect

I love how there is a hidden path that you can walk through, that lets you see horses and makes you feel serene and peaceful

I just love my village

today's vibe: listening to No Government by Anti Pasti wearing a shirt with "feminism" written on it and being motivated to not take anyone's sexist/racist/homophobic/transphobic shit

my little sister just told me that I "look like a quadrilateral" ...I don't know what that means but I feel fucking violated

I recently ordered a gyroscope (because fuck yeah cool math gadget) but reading the instructions was... an experience

[ID: an instruction paper with 12 different ways you can play with the gyroscope, labeled in order: "Fat top ; Sit back ; The heart is not afraid of leaning ; Play a bit role ; Pull and go ; Celestial being immortal ; Posing as a pheasant standing on one foot ; There is a world inside ; Hat juggling ; Near misses ; Great reservoir ; Tumbler" /END ID]

One of our siblings was murdered recently, and you need to know about it.

TW // transphobia and violence against trans people

Brianna Ghey was a 16-year-old trans girl from Warrington, England. On Saturday, February 11th 2023, Brianna was found dead on the side of a park with multiple stab wounds. Two 15-year-olds have been taken into custody in connection with her murder.

People in the Warrington area have alleged that Brianna was being bullied in school, and that neither the administration nor the police did anything.

Despite this, local police have said there is no evidence that the attack was hate-based and most news articles don't mention her status as a trans woman. This is deliberate. This is genocide by the hands of transphobes and TERFs.

Britain does not have gender self-identification (your legal gender being determined by how you identify and not any arbitrary medical requirements), meaning even in her death she will be deadnamed and misgendered on her death certificate.

She deserved so much better.
