Free Broccoli

@freebroccoli

By "free", I don't mean it in the sense of "free beer", but in the sense of "free speech", or "free thinking."

it’s so funny watching people go into discourse autopilot

some random trigger word or phrase activates a discourse subroutine and they start aggressively interacting with a completely imagined idea they are projecting onto something that is simply. not that.

sometimes it feels exactly like talking to an AI chatbot because you’re like “oh I can see that you are recycling some conversational points you saw someone else use once and downloaded them to your database of Things To Say and are now spitting them out in an attempt at an argumentative pattern that is only loosely related to the situation at hand”

How dare you say we piss on the poor

This is exactly the phenomenon people were describing by calling people "NPCs."

The garlic bulb I opened last night had a total of three cloves. This is the smallest one.

I think I've found the garlic clove that recipe writers use.

Ipad parents be like "stop making me feel guilty about harming my kid 😔"

"But he gets upset if he doesn't have his ipad" "What if he didn't have an ipad?" "I don't understand, I just said he gets upset if he doesn't have his ipad"

It's crazy to think that a year ago my wife and I thought that we never have kids without fertility treatments, and now we have a healthy son and two more on the way. God is good.

"Do I have a right to feel safe?"

Depends on the context. Safe from opinions you don't like at a university? Yes. Safe from mentally unstable people threatening to kill you on public transit? What are you, a fascist?

Your two choices on this website are 1) making short posts which people will willfully misinterpret, or 2) making long posts which cover every possible exception, objection, and caveat to your point, which people won't read but will still willfully misinterpret

It's weird to see a recipe that calls for 300 g milk, 250 g chocolate, and...1/2 cup + 3 tbsp confectioners' sugar.

Clearly this person knew that weight measurement is the way to go, but for some reason they switched to volume for the ingredient with the most variable density.

They could have even rounded it up to 3/4 cup of sugar, but apparently the amount was precise enough to mix cups and tablespoon, but not so precise to give a weight.

Dessert recipe writers should make a distinction between "serve immediately (you don't need to chill this before serving it)" and "serve immediately (you should not chill this before serving it)."

Im enjoying the longevity of tumblrs recontextualization style of humor. a seemingly innocuous post followed by like "posts that a gnome would make" or like "are you a phone"

More from the notes:

Switching between tumblr and Twitter screenshots is annoying because I have to keep flipping the order in which I read the text.

I'm super pumped for Sunday. My wife's first Mother's Day, and I'm making dinner for her and my mom and brother. Reverse-seared strip steaks, white miso bearnaise, roasted brussels sprouts and potatoes, yeast rolls, and some kind of peanut butter chocolate pie.

Is it ethical to tell a mechanic to kill himself when among the services he advertises is "make quiet cars louder"?

Your personal conduct is a thousand times more impactful than your political opinions, losers wish this were reverse because opinions are cheap.
