Teen girls reading this, if you feel a calling to write fanfiction about a teen girl being transported to a fictional world, go for it. If you want to write about a teen girl being adopted by your favorite characters or joining the fellowship of the ring or becoming a knight, please do.

We should be encouraging kids to be creative and practice writing, an important life skill, not discouraging it because we find teens acting like teens to be cringe.

Your people have suffered enough

see i think what people get caught up in is going "oh this and that are fetish art......hey did you know x thing is a fetish...pretty crazy right.....this piece of art is actually a fetish for the artist........" and like. see the problem is thinking that devalues the art. i don't think something being a fetish or sexual in nature or whatever actually detracts from any meaning or emotional weight something could have. i don't think "horny" is a worthless or meaningless emotion and i don't see why exploring it in art is any different from "sadness" or "happiness" or "anger". does that make sense? im just sayin we should examine why we view sexuality as inherently detracting/meaning less in art than other things

this blew up so lightning round:

"as long as they're not posting it publicly"/"well its not always horny dont assume its horny": you're missing the point, this is a post about how horny is an emotion of equal artistic value to any other and if people want to post their fetish art i think that's fine

"i was raised christian/came from a christian background and this was a hard thing i had to learn but so important"/"the idea of sexual feelings being less worthy of showing is christian": i'm proud of you you're doing great. also that's true

"it's more interesting actually"/"fetish art ends up being better bc people put a lot more focus into their work when they're obsessed with it": you're right

"stop it with the horny jail thing": you're also right

hey guys fun little fact. the CEO of Tumblr will never see the posts you @ staff in. @/staff and @/wip and all those other staff-run blogs are there specifically so an underpaid customer service rep/intern can take the brunt of all the hate and outcry coming from the piss poor decisions coming from higher up.

another fun little fact. totally unrelated. the person who actually runs tumblr has a blog and its @/photomatt

you guys who weren’t here will never understand how fundamentally hilarious the rcdart drama was. like imagine waking up one day and suddenly everyone is talking about this one artist drawing captain america fucking weird and you look them up and get hit with these bad boys

and for the record… they chose this. this is how their OLDER art looked like

like. you couldnt PAY me to post this. i would not admit this at gunpoint

sorry but i dont think this post is complete without their attempts at drawing star wars characters

The original tweet is the corniest thing I’ve ever fucking seen

A. They're not gonna tip you, periodt. So already the $10mil is looking better.

B. They're not gonna talk to you, so any "business advice" you thought was gonna be worth more than $10mil, that's null and void, aint happening.

C. Here's the real secret of their "success"; they're all bad people. That's literally it. They're willing to lie, steal, cheat, bully, oppress, rape, etc to get what they want, and their appetites are never sated, so they never stop lying, cheating, etc. You don't get that kind of money through hard honest work. If you're willing to be a big enough piece of shit, you could easily be one of these guys.

So yeah, if someone's offering that choice, get it in writing and stay the hell away from these creeps.

But if you're serving them you can poison the food

the thing about historical fiction where the characters have extremely modern attitudes to everything and appear to have psychic access to the most up to date tumblr discourse in the year of the book’s publication is like. why are you even writing historical fiction if you aren’t interested in what people thought and felt and believed in the specific social context of that time and place

if you have contempt for people in the past don’t write about them! write a modern story set at a costume party or a historical reenactment or something lol

According to Know Your Meme, on August 18th, 2005, Erwin Beekveld brought forth this work into the world. HAPPY TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY, THEY’RE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO ISENGARD.

sheds a single tear

every august 18th my notifications break and i go, fuck, tumblr has failed me once again, but it hasn’t. it hasn’t failed me. it’s just the taking the hobbits to isengard-iversary. happy 12 years

a very important holiday amongst my people

FIFTEEN YEARS BABY

yesterday I went to a little meeting at my local queer community center and I was admiring their bookshelves and mentioned that I work at the public library and someone said "well I bet they don't have any [LGBTQ+ books] at our library" and I was like um. yes we do. we have tons of them. half of our employees are queer leftists so they said "oh well I bet they don't in [nearby rural county]" and I was like uh once again yes they absolutely do. gay people live and work there as well

so here's a quick reminder that if you don't think your local library has enough queer centered materials you should actually check before assuming, and if you're not satisfied with their collection you should submit a request for more such books. I don't know what the political landscape of libraries looks like outside the us rn, but within the us no matter where you are, I promise you there are employees at your library fighting for inclusion and intellectual freedom and they can't win without vocal public support
