i'm gonna say, as someone whose favorite characters are mika and yuu, and whose favorite ship is yuumika, and who is reading the manga mainly for them, this chapter was a complete disappointment to me 💀

it's good psychology-wise, of course, it clears some things about their mindsets and digs into their character. that is to say, it added substance to the psychological aspect of mika and yuu. but...why, why wasting a whole chapter for something that could have been done in half of the pages used? i don't care about yuu being dorky silly quirky and nearly offing himself off that tower, i truly don't gaf 🙏 and how much more are they going to remind us he's suicidal? my man i KNOW please give me a break i don't need to hear it every chapter

"go have kids with her and start a family" gosh i understand mika is forcing himself to give yuu a reason to live, but did he HAVE to use such nauseating words? lmaooo i pretend i don't see. the way yuu ignored it and basically said he'd rather just die with mika instead was damn funny though i'll give him that

another thing that bothers me: yuu being set on resurrecting everyone doesn't sit right with me. why was all this past conflict about him being rightfully selfish and wanting to resurrect only mika + his family's family if in the end he says he wants to bring everyone who died on the whole planet back? why? for what reason? bullshit i'm telling ya, my man is high as fuck

rated 6/10 only because the color page goes hard. the rest pisses me off smh

my short takes on ch 118 (because there's too much to talk about and i'm lazy);

• i don't think that for the moment yuu can be described as a villain. a villain is someone who does evil actions, and apart from killing a demon yuu didn't swear revenge upon the world or something. maybe later on, but for now he's just an anti-hero for me. on the contrary, he wants to find something that can benefit everyone (mika and his family)

• yuu wants to protect both mika and his friends. this is why he needed to leave. people who think yuu left in good spirits are damn wrong. they're his family and yuu loves them, everyone knows that, but if yuu didn't leave, he could have ended up hurting them, and i mean physically. him leaving was the best outcome, and he knows that too

• now the squad will possibly undergo through an arc of developments and maybe they'll also have their opinions and grow a mind of their own hm? a good occasion for them to finally have relevance

• i sincerely doubt the next arc will only be focused on mika and yuu. we still have to see shinya/kureto, where tf is narumi, and now that the squad is left with guren we'll follow their steps too. not to talk about the vampires and everyone else. mika and yuu have always been a main focus, and currently everyone's interests revolves around them so....it's not very surprising to me y'know. we will see other characters too, can y'all enjoy a chapter for once

• ashera's "[...]the voices of your real family?!" line was purely manipulative. he used the same tactic when mika died and yuu wanted to die. he reminded yuu that mika loved him, and now he's reminding yuu the squad loves him just to keep him calm and quiet. ashera probably doesn't even care about the feelings the squad has for yuu, but it was convenient for him to say that

• i don't think ashera died just like that. a bit too anticlimactic and light hearted. i do think we'll see him again, not now, but in the future

• same "yuu is programmed" bullshit every month, and every month you get a new statement from yuu that can rebut that. "i've been sane this whole time" yeah i know you are king, keep your head up

• gotta support yuu through everything idc idc, he's right. he finally decided to follow a plan of his own (i don't think it's gonna be that complex or great, but the idea behind it is what matters) and that is such a good leap for him. out of guren's nasty claws god bless. i love him in the recent chapters, i have little to complain about

  • "you only want to save mikaela." i fell on my knees, rolled under the table and died. to think that yuu's philosophy has always been saving everyone, but now he's so determined to save mika that even ashera thinks that's his only objective. amazing
  • "what about you, hm? you only want to save your sister." and the fact this kind of confirms ashera's previous words because yuu needs to counterattack him with his same medicine
  • "from the start you have only ever had eyes for mikaela!" ashera is acting like a jealous ex (in a way he is, yuu abandoned him for mika😭) is funny, but this line absolutely killed me from the inside?? you really only has eyes for mikaela, "i guess i was too busy looking at you to see anything else-" it's double the canon now. just give mika to him already, my man is longing
  • "mikaela wants you to lose" oh boy, did this hurt. mikaela keeps on trying to sacrifice himself for people who did nothing for him, and people who are already dead. he is such a good soul, especially because he doesn't want yuu to be hated by everyone, he doesn't want yuu to turn into something like this. i wonder if mikaela is currently crying inside yuu's soul. and the fact yuu is ignoring his pleas, somehow, makes it even better. yuu is totally set on saving mikaela, but to do so means having to hurt him
  • "mikaela wants to die" ashera please stop self-inserting. mikaela is tired of the suffering he has to endure, but he doesn't want to die. he wants to live by yuu's side, but he doesn't want to do so at the expense of other people. mikaela is good and selfless, and he keeps throwing his life away because he thinks this is the only way to solve things. it's not. hopefully yuu will save him and make him understand how loved he is
  • "i'm not going to give up on mikaela." this was so beautiful, the whole page. you can understand just how genuine his feelings are for mikaela from the art alone. so soft. i'll probably make another post about this panel
  • "i won't give up even if i die" i just love yuumika, so much

115 was one hell of a chapter; even now, two days later, i am still getting anxiety just by thinking about it. being mika and yuu my favorite characters, it obviously hurt a lot. A LOT, but i'm also glad it did because we haven't gotten such a good chapter in a while now.

about the chapter, it was nothing but heart breaking seeing yuu shake like that, and seeing mika discard his life like the many times he did before. these two really can't catch a break and i hate the fact they can't "exist" at the same time. at this point i'm hoping they're gonna die together side by side. i also (but this is just my opinion) don't like the usual "yuu is doing all this for mika just because he is programmed" - some people are really slow, i am not going to lie. while the clonage thing could have an effect on yuu's thinking, yuu's actions are led by his feelings. his feelings, which are genuine and not artificial, and definitely have prevalence over the purpose shikama has given him. yuu loves mika, and how could he not? he is the boy that gave him a family, a reason to live, a home and his first positive emotions. it's a different situation compared to the little yuu who thought angel mika was pretty and was taught he would have to resurrect him one day. no, this yuu's feelings for mika are pure and sincere, it's as simple as that. but i guess many would rather look for a deeper and more complicated reason that sounds forced than realize that lmao

everything i love about the cover!

  • the way mika is the central piece and the only one whose light is outshining the others. really, he's such an important character and that shows greatly through all the symbolisms in his official arts
  • the way yuu is protecting mika: yuu's body is turned towards the squad, which means he is facing them, but his torso and head are turned towards mika, as if to protect him. indeed, yuu seems to act as some sort of shield and defend mika- it's very cute, his stance is protective and he's not letting anyone approach mika
  • the way the characters are positioned could imply their current choices: mitsuba and shinoa are on mika's side of the art, so maybe they'll stand with mikayuu, but shiho and yoichi are on the opposite side and look darker, so they'll probably work together to oppose mika and yuu in the next chapters
  • there is the typical symbolism of the birds flying above them. the most popular of ons metaphors made a come back!
  • yuu's sword (mika) glows golden and that is very mesmerising, looks like molten gold
  • generally it's so pretty i love it

the chapter looks so good, but depressing all the same. mika and yuu are in such a tough spot right now - yuu will be seen as the enemy just because he rightfully wants to defend mika (and thank GOD there is at least someone who puts mika first) and mika being so willing to sacrifice himself is just sad. it's chapter 89 all over again, with the difference that yuu stopped mika dead in his tracks this time. i also understand the squad, because why would they side with someone they've met some months ago at the possibility of resurrecting their family? if you're mad at yuu you also have to be mad at them, because this is like a mutual betrayal. and guren showing his manipulation skills as always by saying shit like "everyone pay attention to what yuu will choose. if you choose mika you're an enemy. remember i want to resurrect your fam, akane and the kids" kinda pathetic to do that to someone who already went through traumatizing events that day

oh and btw happy birthday mika!! being chosen over anyone else is the best gift for him

yuu finally showed one rare and more twisted side of himself, and yamamoto drew him so handsome this time around! definitely an amazing chapter for those who like yuu, i loved the confrontation and can't wait to see how it will play out!
