Trouble Comes Twice: Out Now on Steam!

Trouble Comes Twice is a bisexual romantic-comedy visual novel. Play as twins Hazel and Jace and romance four different love interests (male or female)! It is also possible to purchase Trouble Comes Twice on itch.io! (At the moment, the MAC version of the game is only available through itch. We're working on getting it on Steam, as well!)

If you enjoy the game, please consider leaving us a review! It helps our visibility so that more people can find out about our game! 🥂❤️

The Book of Vermin - Light Novel Release!

The Book of Vermin is a supernatural/paranormal light novel with a dash of horror and gay romance. Although it's technically not a Foxglove Games release, it's written by one of our lead devs (she wrote Jace's story in Trouble Comes Twice) and there's a free sample available to read before you decide if you want to buy it!

Ghosts are real. That is a fact that Allen Robinson has known since childhood, but it comes as a surprise when he and an occult club run into a mutated variant that thirsts for their flesh and blood. However, the thing in the cemetery isn't the only evil spirit roaming the world - there is a long list on a mysterious website called "the Book of Vermin", the only place with reliable information. Between freeing the mutated ghosts and keeping himself safe, Allen has one question: How is it that one of them knows things about evil spirits that aren't even on the website?

Will any of the bonus stories perhaps contain:

• The twins parents love story?

•More Milo and or Sina moments?

•Jun finally paying off her student debt or whatever it is that has my girl in 10+ half-time jobs 😭?

1) Unfortunately no, but would hve been fun! :(

2) They’ll at least be mentioned!

3) Jun doesn’t appear sorryyy. But we see her becoming super successful in the future, probably as a romance author or something, so don’t worry about her!! haha

Will you guys be sad to leave Trouble Comes Twice behind for good when you release Bonus Stories? Or are you more excited about the future than sad about The End?

We're just excited for the future! We've written everything we want to write for Trouble Comes Twice now and there's many other stories and characters we want to explore.

Will I need some tissues for Bonus Stories? And if yes will one box be enough for the feels?

Bonus Stories is pure fluff for the most part. If you're the type to cry over cute moments, then maybe some tissues on the side would be a safe bet lol ;)

Do you think customization, either through character homes/rooms in future games or even appearances of our playable characters will be added to future games?

We probably will someday yeah (it would be cool if we have the right plot for it), but it’s not going to be in our next game or neccesarily the next one after that! 😅

Just as a quick note, because we’ve received a few asks like this and haven’t replied to them all: From now on, we may not always answer ”will x be in future games?” type of questions. We love to receive asks but the answer is almost always going to be ”yes, maybe sometime” or ”we have no idea” haha. We’re mostly just focused on what we’re doing right now and what we want to do in the near future, so we don’t really know exactly what may or may not happen in our future games.

You’re welcome to ask us about what might be/appear in whatever we’re working on currently! (so the DLC or Burn the Midnight Oil.) And we’ll try to answer as much as we can without spoilering.

Was there ever any other LIs planned for Trouble Comes Twice? Like did you have any ideas for love interests you wanted to do if you could add more or was there ever any other LIs you scrapped before the final four?

Nope! Zoe, Cam, Steph, and Adrian were decided on very early even though some of them changed somewhat from their original ideas.

I would have loved a rival-to-lovers romance with a fellow pianist for Hazel. However, that's just a fun "what if" scenario and wouldn’t have been as fun for Jace players lol

Which route in TCT is the longest in terms of word count or are they all exactly the same?

They’re roughly the same length! At most, one route may be an extra twenty or thirty minutes longer or shorter than the others. We don't have track of all the numbers anymore.

Good afternoon! Didn't you used to have a medieval project or something? Is there a new one now? Burn the Midnight Oil? What about the last one?

Hi! Yeah, that would be NOVISSIME! It’s currently on indefinite hiatus.

Although it’s our intention to eventually continue development on that, we have no estimate for when we might be able to so we won’t ask anyone to hold their breath. ;^^

Once the DLC for Trouble Comes Twice has been released, our supernatural romance VN Burn the Midnight Oil is going to be our primary project.

Does buying from itch io really support you guys better? I have an account both there and with Steam and I have been waiting to play your game for a while but now I wanna buy before the bonus content releases and I don't want to do you guys dirty!

There’s benefits to both for us really, so we just want for you guys to buy from whichever is best for you! We do get more from itchio, but people buying the game on Steam (especially if you leave a review) gives us a lot of visibility.

We’re grateful either way that people want to buy our game and support us making more cool games <3

DEV LOG: February 2024

One of our goals for the year is to post more regular dev updates, but we're still working out a comfortable format for these so please bear with us heh! 😅

TROUBLE COMES TWICE: BONUS STORIES

Testing Bonus Stories has mostly been about tweaking the script and fixing silly sprite mistakes. (Also, Cam and Adrian hanging out alone at the park? What could they be talking about? 🤔)

We jumped the gun and said probably February for the release (obviously, that didn't happen). We're very confident about releasing the DLC this month though, so keep an eye out for a release date in the coming week! 💜

BURN THE MIDNIGHT OIL

We've been focused on Bonus Stories, but there's a lot happening behind-the-scenes on our new project thanks to our amazing art team.

SPRITES

Lydia's just wrapped up the first sprites for the eight main characters (including protagonists Circe and Dante)! We're now working on the expressions and minor pose changes for these before moving onto the side characters needed for the upcoming demo.

UI

We spent February experimenting with logo drafts! Toby had so many good ideas, it was tough to decide on just one.

Though we're going to keep the finished logo a secret until we're ready to announce, we figured it couldn't hurt to show a quick look at some of the icon ideas. 😉

BACKGROUNDS

Just last month, we welcomed the incredibly talented Damien to the team. He's already worked through about half of the BGs we need for the demo and we're extremely excited to see them in-game! 🌙

It's hard to wait and not just show off everything right away when we're so excited about the future of this project!! Hopefully sometime this spring, we can make a proper announcement and reveal more. ✨

GOALS FOR MARCH

  • Release Trouble Comes Twice: Bonus Stories! 🌞
  • Continue work on Burn the Midnight Oil 😈

Are you glad you ran the kickstarter for TCT? Any regrets about it looking back now?

Of course we’re glad we did! Otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to fund Trouble Comes Twice and we also got a lot of our audience from Kickstarter :)

Hmm, I guess there are some regrets in terms of how we set things up but any mistakes we made came from inexperience with running crowdfunding campaigns. We’ve learned a lot since, so hopefully we can avoid repeating those mistakes in the future.

Hello ^^ I love that this is a female run studio!! I just think that's really awesome.

Thanks! We also think it's always neat to see more women making games. :D
