also that study APPARENTLY doesn’t take into account that every person in this country who isn’t rich has been lied to, so there are poor people
legitimately poor people!
who have to scrounge to make a living, who work as janitors or in low end customer service jobs, or who are desperately trying to find work
who hold conservative beliefs despite this
because they have been told their entire lives that working hard makes you free and succesful
and realizing that isn’t true and admitting to yourself that it isn’t true
is not something that many people’s minds can handle all in a sudden blow like that
also that fucking study illustrates a
TENDENCY
that doesn’t mean every poor person dies before they reach old age
because get this every old person i know is also poor
“old people are homophobic and transphobic” there are old gay and trans ppl
“old people are racist” not all old people are white
“old people are sexist” not all old people are men
it’s not the age that matters here
oppression isn’t generational and trying to frame politics as “the old people are wrong and the young people are right” erases the fact that there are old people who have been fighting the good fight for decades and the fact that there are young people who are literally nazis
Plus while there might be less old people fighting the good fight it’s usually because they were killed or were part of the minorities that have poor living conditions that kill you early
