The air smelled of expensive liquor and firewhiskey, the room covered in dim green and red lighting.
The slytherins were known for their parties, never missing the fun. It was the only time where all the house rivalry was kept aside, mostly because everyone was too drunk off their asses to even notice.
In the corner by the bar, stood a blonde haired boy. The dull light reflected upon his mob of blonde hair, making it noticeable amongst the crowd.
Draco Malfoy, stood alongside his friends, talking and laughing without a care in the world. His eyes were scanning around to find the familiar y/h/c haired slytherin. The one who made him feel things he never bothered to pay attention to before.
“We’re going to be late y/n. Never mind we’re late anyways but move your ass faster.” Pansy whined looking at you from her bed in your dorm. “Yes, yes I’m almost done let me just-” you smoothened your hair with your hands, not bothering to style it. “There let’s go.”
Pansy looked at you with a goofy smile, eyeing you up and down. “You look so hot. You should dress up more often, rather than wearing those,” she eyed the pile of clothes on your chair pointing at them with a weird look. “Whatever that is that you wear.”
You let out a chuckle, shaking your head at Pansy being Pansy. “Now now pans, weren’t we getting late?” “Yes let’s gooooo.” Pansy whooped all the way down the stairs.
The second draco saw you enter, he couldn’t help but stare. There you were, looking gorgeous as ever. Your hair wild but it complimented your face well, the sage green dress hugging your body at the right places. He couldn’t help the butterflies flood his stomach, a soft smile playing at his lips.
The second you entered the common room, Pansy held your hand and made a beeline to the bar, dragging you along so you don’t lose her.
“Pans, as thirsty as I am, these heels really aren’t the best choice to run with, slow down.” You spoke as loudly as you can hoping she heard you over the loud music. “What? you saying something?” never mind.
As soon as you reached the bar, Blaise handed you your shot glasses. “There. What took you so long?” Pansy looked at you with an accusing look and you couldn’t help but laugh.
Your laugh. The one that sped up Draco’s heartbeat. The one he had grown to adore.
You saw Draco eyeing you from the corner of your eye, so you eyed him back. The second he saw you looking, he looked away, a slight tint of rose on his porcelain skin.
A tiny smile broke out on your face, and before you could react, Pansy dragged you to the dance floor. Her hands on your hips, you swayed with her and the music, feeling the effects of the alcohol.
Draco couldn’t take his eyes of you. He had always taken interest in you, your quick wit, your kindness, your humour. Everything about you pulled him towards you. He was entranced.
“She’s out of your league mate. No one in this room deserves her.” Theo spoke from beside him. Draco wanted to bite back with a reply but he knew it was true. You were too good for anyone here. However that didn’t mean he wouldn’t try. He looked at Theo and downed his drink, giving him a shrug before joining the crowd of sweaty teenagers in the middle of the room.
It wasn’t too hard to spot you and Pansy. Screaming the lyrics at the top of your lungs and giggling around.
Draco came up behind you nodding at Pansy asking her silently to let him dance with you.
Confused as to why pansy stopped, you turned around to find draco standing, the smell of his cologne filling your senses. It was a good contrast to the sweaty mushy smell around you.
You smiled at him before pulling him in and dancing. He was a bit reluctant at first but the look on your face made him get lost in the music too.
You don’t know how long you danced with him, but you knew your feet would give out from under you any moment and you were thirsty as fuck. Everything seemed hazy around you, the room spinning a little.
Draco seemed to sense it as he grasped your hand and strung you along with him. You thought he might lead you to the couches, however when he started to change his direction towards the dorm rooms, you came back to your senses, your stomach churning.
You believed draco, knowing he wouldn’t do anything wrong or hurt you in any manner, but with the amount of firewhiskey you both had, made you think a bit differently.
He opened his dorm room and led you in, entering right after you. You turned around to speak, only to realise the lack of space between the two of you.
“I- um.” You couldn’t form coherent sentences, feeling out of place. Your entire body was throbbing, making you alarmingly aware of everything around you. Draco picked up on your nervousness, the way you looked at anything but him, fidgeting with your fingers.
He placed a finger under your chin making eye contact with you. “Hey hey it’s okay. What’s wrong?” He looked into your eyes trying to find the reason behind your discomfort.
You took a step back and sighed. “It’s um. It’s just that I-.” “Go on love.” “I’m asexual draco. I um I do like you, it’s just that I don’t wanna rush into anything and it’s hard for me- what why are you smiling?”
Dracos face softened at the way you spoke. “Believe it or not, I didn’t bring you in here to do anything. You seemed tired and I just wanted a quiet place to talk you know.” He couldn’t help the blush rise to his cheeks. The warmth spreading through his body, the effect of the alcohol or you he wasn’t aware. (Pretty sure it was you.)
You smiled back, your eyes crinkling as you looked at him. Your insides felt warm and fuzzy, the effect of the alcohol or him you weren’t aware. (Pretty sure it was him.)
“Do you wanna get changed cuz I might have extra clothes from the last time you and Pansy came over.” You nodded, asking him where they might be kept. He handed you a tiny pile, which you took with yourself to get changed.
By the time you came out from his bathroom, Draco was sitting on the bed, the silk sheets now creased, a book in his hand. You had to admit, he looked pretty adorable in his reading glasses. “Never thought you’d be the one to read a romance novel.” You said pointing to the book in his hand.
“It’s one of my favourites to be honest. You should read it sometime.” He grinned looking at you.
The night was one of the most memorable ones for you. You and draco talked about everything and nothing, from your childhood memories to your deepest fears, to the funniest events that ever happened. You couldn't pinpoint exactly when you fell asleep but he did too.
Pansy was worried sick, she knew you were smart enough to take care of yourself but that didn't help calm her nerves. She looked around the room, sparing one last glance before deciding to go to the guys dorm, somewhere you and Pansy were used to crashing, never alone though.
She silently crept inside, whispering your name. The room was dark, the only source of light was the faint glow of the moon, entering through a tiny slit in the curtains.
She couldn’t help the huge grin that broke out on her face. There you were, in Draco’s embrace. One of his arms was hugging your waist, both of your feet tangled with each other.
She took out her disposable camera and snapped a picture, leaving after taking one last look at your sleeping figures.
You woke up with a slight headache the next morning, immediately realising you weren’t in your room. You felt some weight on your waist, soon making it out to be Draco’s arm. Turning around, you looked at his sleeping form. His hair fell over his eyes, silent breaths being drawn by him. He looked beautiful.
“Good morning love.” he rasped out, slowly fluttering his eyes open. “Good morning to you to.” He nuzzled in closer to you and you couldn’t help but let out a laugh at his aloofness. Your chest reverberated with your laughter and Draco couldn’t help but join in.
Upon getting out of bed, you saw a Polaroid along with a small note attached to it, kept on the bedside table.
“You guys are cute<3 also, don’t leave me alone with Blaise and Theo ever again. They’re annoying when drunk.” -pans
You beamed, showing the Polaroid to draco, who shook his head chuckling.
The moment you saw your group in the great hall, they all couldn’t help but tease you guys. Draco sat down beside you and interlaced his fingers with yours under the table. You looked at him with a tiny blush adorning your cheeks, he which he smiled softly.
