Interview with the Vampire 2022 and various VC books because oh my goodness it's everything. also ST DS9, ST Discovery, Disco Elysium, Black Sails, Emmerdale, X-Men comics, etc.

no offense but all of this will be for nothing. we will have been for nothing. defined by their histories. distorted to fit into their narratives. until all that is left of us are the monsters…in the stories they tell their children

i know this was enough as a post to drive everyone crazy but the thing that really gets me about this speech is the fact that it’s fully prophetic. it’s a whole prophecy. flint is so in tune with how structural violence oppresses him and people like him and people not like him; he knows what society does to their stories, he knows they’ll be erased and destroyed and made into caricatures; he knows this intimately, first hand. and he tells silver “this is what’s going to happen if you do this” but silver, in all his pessimism and myopia and fear (so much not-unfounded fear) can’t drum up anything but exhaustion at the thought of being spoken of as a monster, he can’t drum up anything but “who the fuck cares who says what if we’re all dead.” and like, they’re both right. they’re both right. flint’s prophecy is right and silver’s immediate concern for the people he loves is right. they’re right and i’m sad

i'm fully serious when i say that the scene where charlotte asks brimsley about him never marrying is one of my absolute favourites of the franchise.

like, she clearly knows nothing about him personally. why would she? and clearly, they're both equally lonely. clearly his line of "who could ever be free to spend a lifetime with me?" applies to both of them here. clearly, they're mirrors.

and equally, they're the ones they each spend their lifetime with. they're companions, they're bound forever, they care for one another deeply. but they're always divided, they'll never fully understand each other, they can't give each other what they both crave.

and neither of them can ever, ever say it. the closest they'll come is charlotte saying "you care for me" for him. because in the end, it's always brimsley reaching out and never touching to console her in that hallway and always charlotte turning around to ask him the most basic of details about him when they've both known each other for years and years and years.

i’d like to ask you to reblog this so it can reach a larger audience & so i can therefore have more feedback. thank you in advance!

if you have any suggestions for other kinds of fandom events we could organize, feel free to send them in!

I wonder how AMC Iwtv is going to reveal that the reason Lestat withheld information about vampire kind from Louis and Claudia + refused to travel with them, forced them to stay locked to him, was abusive, neurotic, etc is because a bigger, badder, more abusive blonde man told him the secret origins of vampires (the one thing that every vampire desperately wants to know), and said “ok time for you to forget about all this and start a nuclear family! oh and btw if you tell your future vampire family about anything I just told you I will murder them in front of you lol.” Then dipped
