*normal bug behavior still applies good luck

Y’all are sleeping on some of these options smh

Personally, when I picked scarab, I was imagining a giant dark flower scarab or some other fluffy, pollinating species. Mix up huge quantities of sugar water for them to drink. Put a harness on them and let them buzz around outside. Pet their fuzzy belly! It’s a bumblebee, but without the part where it might sting you. Though there are so many other scarabs. Imagine having a Hercules beetle the size of a Great Dane. You could probably ride the beetle like a pony at that point. Scarabs come in a dazzling array of colors and fancy headgear.

Hissing cockroaches are also rad as hell. Yeah, yeah, it’s a giant roach. But think of it like a big docile roomba that might have the capacity to enjoy your company, since they’re somewhat social and also you’re the one giving them food.

And mantises! You’d probably have to get them feeder mice like you do with a snake (or maybe there would be supersized flies, crickets, and dubias for them, that’d be better), but they’re inquisitive and clever insects. There would be so many videos on the Internet of people’s pet mantises doing silly things, like perching on their owner’s back, or threat-displaying at a stray cat, or tilting their head at a TV show.
