@somerandomdudelmao sensei, here is another little gift ;-; Probably, this is the only work in which I was able to invest more than a couple of hours, and also pour my whole soul into it… how did you do it... now it’s empty inside… I was afraid that something would go wrong, so I set a certain time so that you know when it will be, and can prepare for that moment... Um… well… yes… I don't know what to say ;-; *put it here* See you later, I guess ;-; Based on Cass apocalyptic series "The little things" episode ;-; [The one that broke me one morning]

YOU CALL T H A T LITTLE???

Look. LISTEN. I work with animatics every day, I know VERY well how much time, energy, effort and motivation it takes to do something like this! Holy crap, and this is a gift??? For me??? Like.....FOR FREE??? I really think this is the biggest, greatest and giftiest gift I have ever received in my life, jesus christ.

If I could meet myself from the past, I'd say, hey look, there's a divine level animatic based on your comic book.

The past me wouldn't have believed it. Not for a second at all.

But here we are??? Oh my fuckiNG GOD...

Tom King is introducing Diana’s WHAT

on my knees begging DC to actually do stuff with the Wonderfam characters we already have before doing something like this

One thing bugging me that i’ve seen several of King’s shooters on twitter bring up in response to this sort of criticism is how Trinity/Lizzie is gonna be existing in the future rather than the present day DCU so she’s not ‘replacing’ anyone else in the Wonderfam… Which like on in-universe level? Sure, yeah, it’s not like she’s taking over the Wonder Girl title or whatever

But we don’t have a Wonderfamily book to get content with the others—DC should bring back Sensation Comics to be group focused like Action Comics is for the Superfam rn but that’s not currently happening—so her being introduced specifically to take on an important role in the Wonder Woman book is 100% taking away focus that could have been used for the other already existing characters. Like, it’s not a ridiculous thing for people to be frustrated about!

We don’t exist in the DCU, we only get the stories that are actually published, even if theoretically the characters in-universe wouldn’t be stepping on each other’s toes.

IGN has an exclusive first look at the character and full details from her creators", followed by a link. Fun fact, DC has an equity policy that grants creators monetary compensation for the use of certain character creations in media, like movies, TV shows, etc.

So, if you contribute to an existing character’s lore - even revamp them entirely - you only get compensated for the work you did on that book, but if you create your own character from scratch, you may be entitled to future equity for that character’s use in other media.

Who does and does not recieve equity is a little blurry. Generally, you do not revieve equity if your OC is too derivative -  Alan Brennert, creator of Barbara Kean, was denied equity for the use of Barbata Kean in the Gotham TV series because it was determined she was too derivative of her daughter, Barbara Gordon (same name, same appearance, same profession, etc.). However, Mark Waid did recieve equity on his character, Bart Allen, even though it could be argued Bart is derrivative of Barry, because he was different ENOUGH - he also stopped recieving equity when Bart made the switch from Impulse to Kid Flash.

I suspect this is why we’ve been seeing a lot of new characters rather than loving attention paid to established characters. I think having the new characters be connected to old characters is a gamble on the part of the creatives - new characters connected to classic characters have a higher chance of being adapted (resulting in an equity paycheck), but also run the risk of being considered too derivative of the character they’ve hitched their wagon to to actually RECIEVE an equity paycheck. Either way, there’s little incentive for writers to only use existing characters unless they’re personally passationate about the character.

I'm sick and tired of hearing ice-cold takes that Batman's a Mary Sue.

So what? So what if he's an engineer, martial artist, gymnast, strategist, forensic scientist, hacker, racecar driver, pilot, detective, actor, CEO, etc.

Bruce Wayne is NOT a Mary Sue.

He's Everything. Bruce Wayne is the Barbie of the DC universe.

Anyway here's my pitch for a new batman logo:

ok so i jus watched s3 battle for nyc pt 1&2 and trust me i have. thoughts. but hey what was that last line hey???? slash saying "i just modeled myself after the best leader i knew... you." hey now. whats with that tone hello??? that felt so like. targeted. like why was the "you" so emphasized but in like a passive aggressive tone?? what is with their beef. im so going to explore that in my rewrite leo nd slash have crazy beef w each other

I always guessed that Slash had issues with Leo because Raph would complain about him when he was still Spike. Like since he and Leo butt heads a lot it would make sense for him to complain about those instances to his pet (as one usually does). And since Spike was Raph’s he definitely could of had like a one sided perspective on the arguments and such.

And I can’t really say much for Leo cause I don’t fully remember his side of the whole thing.

I think Leo was just angry Slash tried to... murder them. His brothers were already horribly beaten and Raph was about to get pushed off a building by the time Leo even entered that fight, so I think he’s just protective. As far as Leo’s concerned, Slash is at BEST an abusive friend of Raph’s, at WORST a very powerful enemy.

They may have also told him later that Slash is able to copy Leo’s voice, which Slash used to lure Mikey, which I can see Leo taking personally.

It’s a shame one of Raph’s healthiest ways of dealing with his anger - venting to a pet, might as well be writing in his diary - had such terrible consequences.

i had three fic ideas.  wrote one.  i still have three fic ideas.  this is not how math is supposed to work.

?!?!?!?!? tim?????? SMALL TIM?????

you ever accidentally create a recurring theme in your writing. you start putting together an outline for something you’ve never written before and get partway through planning, rearrange the pieces, and go “GODDAMMIT THIS IS ABOUT GRIEF AGAIN”? because let me tell you,

I tend to have family bonding recovery or traumatize children characters….

I guess even after 20 years it’s a part of me that stays…

FUCK I WROTE DADDY ISSUES AGAIN

A few years ago, Nickelodeon did a video for World Turtle Day where they talked about some Turtle Facts on the different Turtle Species of the Rise Turtles

Narrator: Leonardo, the wise cracking hotshot, is a red eared slider

And something I found interesting about the video is that it talked about red eared sliders being territorial

Narrator: Red eared slider’s are peaceful & mostly harmless turtles but they can also be very territorial so don’t mess with their home or they might send you home

A lot of turtles are known for being territorial especially soft-shell turtles which are very territorial so I was kind of surprised that when talking about territorial turtles they specifically chose to mention red eared slider’s being territorial over any of the other species of turtles which made me wonder if that particular fact was chosen due to Leo’s characterisation.

Leo: Hey, nobody does that to my brother! Except my brother.

Leo: Back off, he’s ours. Apparently.

Throughout Rise Leo has been shown to be extremely protective & defensive of his friends & family jumping to defend or protect them whenever someone tries to hurt them in any way which can be seen when Leo gets protective of Raph in the episode Shell in the Cell or when Leo immediately defends Frankenfoot from the Foot Clan the moment he learns that Raph considers Frankenfoot a friend in the episode Sparring partner.

Leo: Hey, future me would be real proud of you. I’m proud of you

Leo has also been shown to be someone who cares about family more than anything else & the second someone can be seen as a family member he gets attached & would do anything for them (even put his life on the line). Which can be seen by how the second he found out that Karai was a Hamato she became ‘Gram-Gram’ to him & he was willing to fight the Shredder for her or how attached he was to Casey Junior after only a day because he knew that his future self was important to Casey Junior.

Leo: But when I see what’s happening to you, and what’s happening to them… I realised it wasn’t about me.

It has been shown time & time again that Leo’s biggest motivator is arguably his families safety which can be seen in the movie where one of Leo’s biggest motivations when fighting the Krang is arguably his family being in danger & one of the biggest anger responses that Leo has ever really shown has been due to Raph getting hurt.

It could be argued that Leo’s protectiveness over his family could possibly partially stem from the fact that Red Eared Sliders are very territorial making Leo especially protective over what he possibly considers ‘his’. As Red Eared Sliders are traditionally territorial & protective over their homes, Leo might be protective over his friends & family as they are his ‘home’ to him.

Leo being protective & possibly territorial towards his family might also explain why Leo seems to hold grudges against former enemies such as Draxum & be reluctant to trust them as Leo’s instincts may still view the former enemies as threats to what he wants to protect.

Leo: You threw me off a roof!

Mikey: Isn’t this nice? When’s the last time we all got together like this huh?

Leo: The time Draxum dropped me off a building?

It might be possible that Leo’s grudge against Draxum isn’t actually motivated over Draxum’s actions against Leo but rather because there might be part of Leo that struggles not to see Draxum as a threat to the people he cares about.

I’m not sure whether or not a red eared sliders territorial nature was supposed to translate into Leo’s protective nature over his family intentionally but I thought it might be an interesting link to make between Leo & his turtle species.

The fact that Red Eared Sliders are known for being peaceful & mostly harmless except when their home is threatened might also be similar to how Leo seems to prefer to act laid back except for when his family needs protecting.

I was reading an article on turtle scent cues for fanfiction reasons a while ago, and I saved this tasty tidbit of information on sliders:

It was facinating to me, because it basically said red-eared sliders stand their ground. It’s one reason they’re such an invasive species outside their native habitat; they’re bold, they don’t give a fuck, and they’re not easily scared off

Which, if intentional, seems to translate in Rise to Leo’s stubborness, and can be applied to his territorial behavior.
