There's a Jewish story about four rabbis arguing over an interpretation of something in the Torah. Three are in agreement, and the fourth is holding out and arguing the opposite point. The 4th one continues to ask God to send a sign proving he's right, and after a series of miracles, God finally sends down a bolt of lightning and a voice booms from the skies: "HE'S RIGHT."

At which point, the remaining three rabbis says, "Ok, well, it's still three against two."

This is how I view Word of God in regards to canon. The writer/director/actor/whoever can say "this is what I intended X to mean" and I will take that and say, "Hm, interesting to consider! Thanks for sharing that context but I personally I don't see it that way."
