Still got love for some people I know I’ll never talk to again.
sickening
Just scream
You wanna know why students hate school? yeah? alright.
We are told what is expected of us, and nothing else flies. We are told what to dress like, we are told what to act like. We are told what to do and anything else will get you yelled at. We are told what we are going to be doing for a whole year/semester. We are told that we can’t miss a day without falling behind, we are told our education is more important than our mental health. We are told we can’t use the restroom. We are told what to eat and when.
We are forced to carry large and extremely heavy books and binders that hurt. We are forced into an environment that may not be comfortable. we are not allowed to disagree with the teacher. We are not allowed to say “I can’t do that” because “That’s not a valid excuse”.
We are not allowed to go to our lockers unless we have a pass, we are told we are going to have homework every night. We are pinned against one another and then asked to help the other. We are thrust into groups with people we don’t feel comfortable with. We are frowned upon if we don’t have all A’s. Teachers pick favorites.
We are taught by people who haven’t been into a high school as a student for longer than we’ve been alive. We are told that if we fail it’s our fault. We are given most tests on the same day. We are told we can’t write an essay overnight then expected to do one in under an hour. We are told we have to have perfect grammar and spelling. We are told this is a fast paced class, but we can’t get out of it if our grade is a certain level, even if we aren’t comprehending it.
We are told in order to look good for colleges we must do extra actives, but we have tests that require hours of studying. We are told how to act and dress. We are disconnected from our comfort. We are told that school matters more than our health. We are told that we are fine. We are called children or lazy when we fail. We aren’t given second chances. Our questions are ignored.
We are told that we are overreacting and that it’s not “that hard and stressful” and “not to worry”, when on the other hand school is treated like the golden goose of life. We are told if we fail schooling, we don’t mean much to society. We are told we can’t stress about it because it’s not that hard, when they haven’t gone to school in years. We are told that we must go to college, but yet have to take tests we aren’t prepared for. We are blamed for not understanding something, even if a whole class doesn’t understand. We are told to relax and have fun, be a teenager, when all we can do is stress about school because you tell us that in one hand it is the most important part of me but in the other that it means nothing.
We are told that our grades define us and our intelligence and that a single point or test can make or break all the work we have done. We are given one opportunity to learn the material, if we don’t know it oh well. If we say we don’t understand the topic most teachers will say then pay attention because half the class gets it. Teachers don’t understand presenting is hard for people, and that pushing us to do it, doesn’t help, it makes some panic and stress out.
We are tested on material we learned a day before or three months ago. We are told to remember something that happened two years ago. We are told that we are responsible for our own schooling and that we have to make it in school. We are told that a grade in a book defines us and means more than if i’m happy with living or not.
Athletes are given everything, even if they don’t deserve it. Girls are told our body being covered matters more than if we have been assaulted. Girls are told that instead of having boys look at us like people, that we have to cover up for them. We are just a grade to schools, we aren’t people, we’re money.
i cant believe the first half of the year is over what did i do the entire time
summer depression aesthetic
- sleeping in way too late
- “oh no it’s 4 am and i’m still awake”
- mindlessly refreshing the same apps over and over
- picking up a book only to put it down because the words aren’t processing in your brain
- listening to the same three albums repeatedly
- either eating every snack you own within an hour or forgetting to eat for like half the day
- “if i don’t do my summer homework it doesn’t exist”
- wearing the same sundress three days in a row
- watching your friends hang out with each other as you stay at home and stare at the wall
- consistently forgetting to respond to people who text you
- reminiscing over past summers and how much fun you had then
- wanting the school year to start but also feeling Crushing Anxiety when you think of how soon it is
- drinking like a gallon of water every hour or not having any water all day and dehydrating
- unbrushed hair
- lying down on the floor
- “what day is it today”
- mosquitoes make you feel downright murderous
- watching movies only to get distracted
- even sitting around at home makes you tired
- this is not fun
me after a quiet day in: Time for a quiet night in
fun fact: you don’t cure depression by telling me i have nothing to be sad about
another fun fact: you dont cure anxiety by just getting up and doing whatever it is that makes you anxious
Happy month pride! 🌈
