Hi, I’m Vance, and I’m making this post on behalf of my boyfriend, Viktor. I don’t make any money, and Viktor needs help to pay for gas to get to work for the first few weeks until his first paycheck. This year has been rough as far as getting a stable employer who isn’t discriminatory against those with disabilities, and this job is looking to be the best one for my partner, one that he’ll be happy in and able to do long-term. His words: “ I’ve been on the job hunt since essentially mid-February of 2023, with intermittent employment between then and now. I now have a job that I feel will be a career, something I can do long term, but theres a catch. Since the start of the pandemic, I have been working almost exclusively from home, so gas money has not been an issue. This new job does have me working outside of the home, and my first paycheck will not be until June 30th. Between the lack of employment, and the general lack of need for gas, I am flat broke with an empty gas tank. I’m creating this fundraiser to keep me in enough gas money for me to start this new job until then, along with things like groceries if there’s anything left over. so there's essentially two big gaps in marquis's backstory. the first one is why he and claire were separated for the first four years of amy's life—carol at one point speculates that he was abusive, but this doesn't make sense given that claire chose to come back and leave her kid with him and it's called out in the text as projection on her part. every other piece of information we get on their relationship suggests they were very close; even if you assume the locket marquis wears just has a picture of amy in it, the rings are pretty obviously supposed to be a token of their marriage that never happened. there was some reason for the two of them to have completely cut contact for years, to the point that marquis was surprised amy existed at all, but it's not the two of them hating each other.

the other gap is who he's covering for in the murder of iron rain, which is stated both by other characters and by word of god not to actually have been committed by him. for a cape who lives by a code of not harming women and children, tarnishing his own reputation like that is no small sacrifice. the only other time we see him bend is own rules is when he fights the female members of the brigade to protect amy, his daughter. if his code were flexible enough that he'd lie about breaking it just to cover for some random other villain, his word wouldn't be so famously trustworthy; the only thing that gets him to do that is love, and outside of claire, there's no one else ever brought up in his backstory who he's close to at all. claire, who we know almost nothing about, except that she was there in marquis's circle at the right time, that she was brave and bold, and that something made her flee the city for years to raise her daughter alone and only risk coming back when she knew she was already dying.

i can't prove that it's true or even that wildbow intended it, but. what better culprits are there?

The penalty was imposed after Peace River Hydro Partners pleaded guilty in provincial court in Fort St. John on Monday to depositing a deleterious substance into fish-bearing waters, a violation of the federal Fisheries Act, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada,

The federal agency says its enforcement officers discovered that in 2018, the contractor discharged 3,300 cubic metres of drainage water with a high concentration of metals into the Peace River due to their water treatment system's inadequate capacity.

"A sample of the drainage water collected on Sept. 9, 2018, determined that it contained a concentration of aluminum that was acutely lethal to fish," said Environment and Climate Change Canada in a news release on Wednesday. [...]

Oh, WotC's response is basically, "Well, gosh, it was just a rogue illustrator who did it, how could we ever know!"

You know, because he apparently just slipped it into the book design when no one was looking, there couldn't have ever been an art director who looked at it and noticed the same flaws that people on the internet did. But they scolded him and it won't happen again! Don't ask about the concept artist who seems to have had her art just run right through AI! Everything's great!
