Black is black at the end on the day, right?😏

Right like he’s canonically Afro-Latino…he can have curly hair

the problem is that from every angle, the reasoning to change his hair texture doesn’t make sense. If he had kinky hair in the first movie, why would he have curly hair now?

from the standpoint of an animator it doesn’t make sense either. It’s making more work for the animators, because rather than just use the same character model from the first movie, they have to create an entirely new one to go with this new hairstyle. Not only that but now they’re gonna have to put in the extra effort of animating the hair movements alone since big curls bounce a lot (in addition to the visible hair strands). So now they’re gonna have to account for all that everytime Miles’ moves his head.

someone else pointed it out that it also looks like they changed his skintone as well. this one is a little harder to decipher because it could just be the particular lighting in the half a minute clip we see him without his mask on; but I wouldn’t put it past them to have done that too.

a lot of latinos complained about Miles’ design when the first movie came out because they said it ‘didn’t properly represent them.’ and it shows that a lot of people still fail to recognize the millions of afro latinos out there in the diaspora, and that a majority of them do have dark skin and type 4 hair.

and even if you wanna make the argument that it was done to bring out more of his mixed heritage, there’s literally no reason to change his design over that. in opinion it was translated perfectly that miles has Latino heritage from his actions alone. You literally see his Latina mom, you see him eating arroz con gandules (at least that’s what it think it is), you see him speaking spanish with other Latino kids; there’s even reggaeton songs in the soundtrack.

we can all say that the people pointing this out are tripping, except for the fact that the active whitewashing of black characters appearances is something that has been consciously happening in the animation industry for years.

Fucking iconic. It would also allow suing rapists and domestic abusers with awards starting from 10,000, where if the case is won, half the money goes into a fund for women seeking abortions in other states. It’s modelled exactly from Texas’s unconstitutional bullshit bill. Anyone who opposes the constitutionality of this bill would also be calling into question the anti-abortion bill.

FINALLY SOME GOOD FUCKING NEWS

and the best part?
