This post lit my brain on fire and now I cannot stop thinking about Moiraine and selfishness. To me, Moiraine's biggest flaws is not exactly selfishness, but intransigeance, to the point of heartlessness.

it remains remarkable how steadfastly nynaeve stood by rand, even in the depths of his ice cold heartlessness before his dragonmount epiphany. he literally suggested to nynaeve that lan’s possible death at tarwin’s gap would be a convenient diversion for his plans and nynaeve didn’t absolutely murder him on the spot. she never gave up trying to heal him, even when it was obviously hopeless. she knew she was going to shayol ghul with him, regardless of what the tower might say about it, bc she knew he needed her. she left emond’s field to protect all four of the kids and she never, ever gave up on them, no matter what other demands were placed on her. she never gave up on rand and she never really stopped being the wisdom of emond’s field
