I've been away for a bit and I haven't really been in the mood for writing. I have been writing anyway but it's mostly been grim side. This is the first positive thing I've written as of late. For those who don't know, my father has recently passed away from cancer and my family and I have been dealing with that. Some days I overthink the things I would like to do and so I never get around to doing them. And some days I'm able to capture those thoughts and write them down.

Here we are

Drifting listlessly through a dark infinity

Tiny lights dazzle us with the dance of the cosmos,

Shimmering until the end of their lives

Far beyond ours.

A fog of stars light our sky

If we are still enough to see them,

They show us the beauty of the night that we’ve long feared.

That our fears are real,

That there are endless unknowns in the darkness around us

And that we are far from alone or unique in the darkness,

What lurks around us is far beyond what we could ever hope to imagine.

A flicker so miniscule among an ocean of lights

Lost among more brilliant lights if we look away,

Yet it continues to dance its gleaming dance

For all, or none, to see

Are we that lost flicker?

Spinning ‘round the black abyss

Ad infinitum
