@fireladyofink

I have stories. I'm a fire elemental. I draw sometimes and write a hell of a lot more; I mainly use Wattpad despite my works typically fitting more in AO3, lol! For now, I'm using Tumblr mostly to just post my art. No stealing or I will consume the toes and boil the teeth. Thank you for reading this shit description!

I love how fucking insane the Undertale fandom went

Like we made so many AU’s that’s the AU’s have AU’s. It’s fucking beautiful

Still in a portrait-painting mood, so I did a little gift art for @sophtopus of the character Mezil Thyme from her Undertale fanfic “The Golden Quiche”. I highly recommend giving it a read- it even has it’s own TVTropes page! (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FanFic/TheGoldenQuiche)

Somewhere out there in the Quiche world, some people went ‘oh no he’s hot’. Thank you so much for the gift art, Tara!

no writing workshop can help you improve your writing as much as this screenshot can

Sure, use more than just 'said...' but each one of those words has additional shades of meaning to them over the word 'said.' Just because the words are synonymous does not make them identical.

Use these words where they make sense to be used.

If the conversation indeed happened as described in that paragraph good lord is it both unhinged and completely farcical. Which, to be fair, is a valid tone to set just be aware of it if you go down this road.

Questioned - At its tamest it's just asking a direct question, at its worst it's part of an intense interrogation scene, implying a sense of animosity between the asker and the person being asked.

Grumbled - Indicates that the speaker is somewhere between annoyed and extremely angry while speaking. The natural assumption is they are displeased about the things they are speaking about.

Exclaimed - Implies a great deal of intensity either in volume or emotion. The way it's written in that screenshot bugs me. If that word choice remained I'd insist on punctuating it with an interrobang (!?) or with ALL CAPS.

Giggled - Implies amusement with what the speaker is saying. In this specific example it also implies Harry is batshit insane. He had a hell of a mood swing from "grumbling" to "giggling" in the space of a single word. It's extreme tonal whiplash, especially out of context, though I suspect its extreme tonal whiplash within context too.

Confessed - Admitting something secret and often something widely considered wrong, immoral, or illegal. This would be a good example if not for the next line.

Whimpered - Implies anywhere from whining in annoyance or exasperation to cowering in mortal fear. In this case it seems far more likely the latter, but it is once again extreme tonal whiplash. This might be a more reasonable tonal shift though if the Vampire is deliberately trying to scare Harry. But if so the word I would have chosen for the Vampire's previous statement wouldn't have been "confessed" but "threatened." This introduces the Vampire's villainous intent more smoothly and doesn't feel as hamfisted.

Roared - So this one is unambigous. This is loud! Big! Extreme! It deserves an exclamation point! IT MIGHT EVEN DESERVE ALL CAPS! Italics even! OR BOLD FONT! Because not only is the Vampire making a loud noise (shouting) he's making a loud noise typically made by large predatory beasts (roaring)! Ending such a noisy and brief statement with a period is underselling it tremendously.

>  no writing workshop can help you improve your writing as much as this screenshot can No. No. Absolutely not. This screenshot is the complete opposite. It’s miles worse than using the word ‘said’. The sheer overuse of descriptive speaker allocations is absolutely distracting. Not to mention that it made the cast sound like bad melodramatic actors overexaggerating their every move. Unclevertitle has already pointed out that it reads absolutely unhinged. Said has a great advantage of being almost invisible, allowing the dialogue to stand on its own. Descriptions should only be used when required... just like everything else

Gaster had never seen such bullcrap before.

"Egads, what tomfoolery is this?" In The Golden Quiche he likes to use Egads a lot, like a true British Gentlemen

Someone replied to me with the meme version so why not?

Crab Day!!!

Where:

Here on Tumblr!!

What:

Buy crabs!

Why:

As we now know, Tumblr is $30 million dollars in debt. Oops. Tumblr has announced some major (and unpopular) changes to the site in their attempt to get back above water. The alternative is that Tumblr ceases to exist. But maybe we can change that...

How:

There are 327 million unique tumblr visits per month, and almost 500 million active accounts. If 10 million unique users (or less, if we bought more than one) bought or gifted Crabs from the Tumblr store, we could knock out Tumblr's debt easily. Buy crabs!

When:

July 29, 2023 is Crab Day, running through August 5 (for anyone who can't log on that day) as Crab Week!

Who:

Everyone!! If you truly can't afford to participate with a $3 crab, (or other item from the shop) post crab memes!

Time for Tumblr users to rise again and surprise everyone...

Please I need their next financial report to have a header that says 'Crab day'
