Rant on Non-Fans
So, my sister once said that you shouldn't cry over a fictional character that died in a non-realistic story (PJO and HoO), but it is perfectly ok to cry over a fictional character that died in a realistic story ( Fault in Our Stars). My dad and I disagree. It is sadder to read as a well-developed character over many books dies than a character that only gets to have a life in one. By this I mean Luke Castellan v. Augustus Waters. I'm not saying that Augustus's death wasn't sad, I'm just saying that the more you get attached to a character, the more it hurts when they die.
