How many times has Charles winked at Max and we weren’t there to see it?
When the light comes right from the South, the sky in Miami turns electric. It cools the summer heat. So blue it’s as if it was painted over. The sunsets are beautiful. You don’t notice the pink sneaking past the horizon until the big yellow ball begins to morph into a fuzzy orange thing. It melts behind the palm trees, hot concrete and rollerblades. At the very end, it’s angry red. Then it’s gone. Pink matter. Pink air. It calls to you. Neon colors. Little bursts of light behind your eyelids. But the stars are so far away. White and cool. Not real. Here, you make your own stars in the dark blue of the nights. Pop your lid shut. It’s pink. It’s blue. It’s Miami. Go make some stars, while the sun sets.
