like something from HP Lovecraft, only Fey!

just wanted to let you know that i read american gods at school and the sex scene between ifrit and salim threw me off so badly because I thought it was like a wholesome story about immigrant solidarity, which it still kinda is but goddamn i was shaking thinking about the poor dude getting fucked by an ifrit

American Gods is not very wholesome. Then again, neither is America.

Salim and the Ifrit is my favorite part of the book and, though the rest of the book is great, is why it's one of my favorite books. It's just so poignant!

If I only could, I'd make a deal with the gods:

Have Ronald Reagan assassinated.

(Preferably before he became president.)

…As Mars is to be relayed by Mercury, for a new journey in discoveries and errands… this fine pair of silvered and gilt-bronze busts of Hermes and Ares, probably late 19th to early 20th century seen courtesy of Sotheby’s 2009.

My first question to someone who’s like, “You should give up writing and learn to code!” would be to ask, “Is that how you entertained yourself during the pandemic? With long videos of people coding? Or did you read books and watch TV and movies like the rest of us?”

In relation to the fireworks wizard post and the Lord of the Rings part comp. The party composition for The Hobbit is just as crazy if not more.

It goes

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Dwarf fighter

Halfling rogue

And occasionally that same fucking aasimar wizard.

LotR: a balanced party with many capabilities and especially 'soft abilities' of knowing the right people.

The Hobbit: the action economy is in shambles.

26 attacks assuming each dwarf is at least 5th level. Maybe more if any of them dual wield and use their bonus action attack.

100% correct. That's because the 13 dwarf fighters are always getting caught up in their sad backstories and play the game for the lore versus the mechanics.

At least it makes more sense for tank-and-spank. The logistics of the typical four person D&D party do not make an iota of sense with the typical idea of a lone meat shield protecting the rear (everyone else) from massed assaults.
