this is possibly one of my favorite pieces of medieval art for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to:

the fact that this depicts the conception of alexander the great (yes, that alexander the great)
the fact that in the story this comes from (one of the alexander romances) alexander’s dad is actually a dude disguised as a dragon
olympias getting her netflix and chill on with a fucking dragon
the dragon’s gentle embrace
the fact that the dragon and olympias are both all snuggled up under the covers

the fact that olympias apparently wears her crown while getting it on
the guy looking in on this whole scene, who is philip II of macedon btw
