My mom is “not a homophobe” but “there’s no need to show off like that”.

My grandma is “not a homophobe” but she’s still sure I’ll find the right man.

My teacher is “not a homophobe” but they don’t talk about a historical figure’s sexuality unless their sexuality is straight because “that’s not appropriate”.

My school is “not homophobic” but every club can use school’s spaces except for the LGBT+ one.

My ex best friend is “not a homophobe” but she called me out on being predatory when I opened up about my crush on her.

My classmate is “not a homophobe” but she whined about how uncomfortable it felt changing in front of me for P.E.

None of them told me I’ll go to hell. None of them openly hates gay people. None of them hit me, or insulted me for being gay.

But it still hurts like hell.

my favorite thing that’s ever come out of those dumb “gender reveal” parties, you know the ones, is that people make cakes and other baked goods for them right?

and since everything in this hellscape has to be gendered including colors, they gotta use both pink and blue frosting when they decorate to keep the prospective parents guessing before they cut the cake open and reveal how they’re gonna color-code their babies, but that also means:

people are out here making blue and white and pink baby cakes and just, unintentionally throwing the trans flag all over their pointless “gender” celebration and i think that’s just superb

someone make me this cake when i get top surgery to celebrate

What if the trans community…stole gender reveal parties?

I hope the trans community steals gender reveal parties

If you’re exclusively attracted to fictional men, than you’re probably not attracted to men. Fictional men might have the aesthetic appearance of men but what makes a man is a lot more than the aesthetic appearance of one and men in tv shows and movies are often idealized and act in ways that we never see in men in real life.

12 year old me really said “every woman in the world is beautiful and the only attractive male is beast boy from teen titans because he has empathy. I’m straight.”

A sign of compulsory heterosexuality. Fictional men are unattainable, they can give you the illusion that you’re attracted to men when in reality you don’t want to be intimate with any men at all. It distracts you from the truth because you (still) have internalised homophobia and unconsciously you’re trying to cling to heterosexuality. Eventually this fight against yoursef will stop, focus on who you desire actively, not what society is trying to push on you. You shouldn’t think “I eventually could bear that if”, a healthy set of mind when thinking about dating / having sex would be “I want that, I would enjoy that. I have never done that but I want to try because I think I may like it, etc”. If you’re attracted to women but never to men except fictional ones then it means you aren’t really attracted to men, you’re attracted to a version of you where you’d still be digested by men and therefore accepted by society.
