He also helped convince Abraham Lincoln to let African Americans fight for their own freedom.
Gay women don't have anything easier than gay men, we're just more sexualised. Bi women are most likely to be raped based on sexuality (not including Trans women, because that's gender not sexuality) and we're constantly looked down on. And to that anon sexuality has nothing to do with presentation, believe it or not, not all lesbians are tomboys and not all gay men are effeminate
why do white people want to be oppressed so bad?

It’s like the dynamics of racism in America summed up in three short youtube comments.
Literally
I am so ecstatic about this commercial!
Not only is there an interracial couple, which is fucking great as heck, but she’s black. And not like light skinned with straight, long hair. No. She’s dark with natural hair. This is very important. First of all, let me say I’m happy that interracial is not just represented by a black guy and a white girl, but it’s the other way around. Black girls do not get enough love, especially from white guys. We’re always “pretty for a black girl” and never just pretty. And look at her father being supportive of this! He’s tryna make shit happen, but he’s also like “not too much shit”. And it’s her father, of all things. Stereotype shot in the face.
Dark girls! Natural hair! Supportive parents! Interracial couple! Present father! White male and black female!
When car commercials do a better job than all of society.

remember when Mulan risked her life and her family’s honor to save her dad and ended up saving all of China from the Huns but Anna and Elsa are considered Disney’s feminist icons
Remember when Tiana spent hours and hours working hard to save up for her own restaurant to make her dreams a reality without any man in the equation, but Anna and Elsa are the feminist icons?
Remember when Nani tried went from job to job so the social services would get off her back and let her keep her sister. Then when they did come for lilo she negotiated with them and when her sister was kidnapped; She beat up an alien with a branch demanding to be taken to her sister. But you know anna and elsa are the feminist icons?
“I’m getting really tired of people defending Disney’s bad marketing choices. I’m sorry but there is no reason that Tiana gets one doll and Elsa has nine. That’s not fair.”
Because Frozen was infinitely more popular so they made what sold? I mean, it’s bs but this isn’t racism in this case. It’s not even a bad marketing choice.
It’s actually is a bad marketing choice because
1. Disney has flooded the market with Frozen merch
2. Disney is missing an opportunity to make more money by having Tiana merch.
3. Again, like I’ve said, not every little girl is going to love Elsa so it’s best to have variety.
hecallsmepineappleprincess, do you have anything to add?
It’s best to let the numbers speak for themselves. Prime example is the Disney store website. There are no more than 17 pieces of merchandise for each POC princess compared to the white princesses. Even the unpopular white princesses among children have up to 60 or more pieces of merchandise than the POC princesses. Frozen is ALWAYS on the homepage of the store site and is constantly being marketed. Diversity is not being pushed in the Disney market well enough. That’s why people are so harsh when Disney does something involving a diverse character. That’s why people go so hard on Disney for more merchandise. Yes frozen is still popular but Disney has a wide target audience. Eventually people want something new and different.
Bolding done by me.
Disney stores purposely stock less Tiana merchandise that the others. No matter if it’s Time Square, Queens Center Mall or any other Disney store in the surrounding area, there are always an infinite number of dolls that are not as significant (like Li Shang, an overwhelming number of Prince Charmings, etc.) that have WAY more stock despite not getting sold at all, but I’m barely able to purchase a Tiana doll, whether it’s slow retail season or if it’s around Christmas time. Even Charlotte and Naveen will have so many dolls on shelves but not one damn Tiana doll.
Whenever I ask about this to the employees, they’ll be apologetic and just simply say ‘she keeps getting sold out’. But the black associates will hint more heavily on the “sold out” bit being a lie and them just simply choosing not to stock Tiana most of the time. They know the damn deal.
They don’t market because they don’t want to market a black American princess. Her “debut” promotional events at WDW and Disneyland lasted less than 3 months when the movie first came out..and throughout the last five years there has not been a permanent space to call Tiana’s, especially not at WDW. Not even an iconic special dish to try. Not even making one of the U.S.A. area’s cafes into something Tiana-themed, at the barest minimum.. just some place to call hers…
And if someone dares make note of Port Orleans Resort I will go off. Port Orleans is not an experience inclusive with a Disney park pass, and most visitors will not have access to experience the Royal Rooms which are the main places with heavy P&tF and Tiana imagery. Little kids affected by Tiana’s story and image will never have a fully gratifying experience compared to other fans because Disney don’t give two shits about marketing their dark characters.
I dunno… I’m looking at the numbers here, and…. Let’s do it this way:
Disney Princesses (as of 2015) plus ranking on the Disney Movie Guide Top 50 Films Data listed is: Net of Original Film: Lifetime Box Office Net Time in Theater: Length of theatrical run
Snow White (ranked #24) Net of Original Film: $415,851,577 Time in Theater: unknown Aurora (ranked #15) NOF: $558,200,000 TT: unknown Belle (ranked #3) NOF: $399,967,620 TT: 168 days Cinderella (ranked #20) NOF: $810,800,000 TT: unknown Ariel (ranked #5) NOF: $171,343,479 TT: 105 days Jasmine (ranked #2) NOF: $454,054,219 TT: 154 days Pocahontas (ranked #49) NOF: $291,079,773 TT: 84 Mulan (ranked #16) NOF: $214,320,254 TT: 63 days Tiana (not on Top 50, ranked #93 out of Top 100) NOF: $162,054,765 TT: 128 days Rapunzel (ranked #8) NOF: $331,794,936 TT: 189 Merida (ranked #50) NOF: $353,983,207 TT: 196 Elsa (ranked #6) NOF: $1,124,219,009 TT: 238 days So, from this data, we can see that the Princess and the Frog actually made Disney the least amount of money out of all the Disney Princess films. Also, despite having a longer theatrical run than Pocahontas, Mulan, and The Little Mermaid, it made less money than any of them. In fact, if Mulan or Pocahontas had remained in theaters for the 128 days that the Princess and the Frog ran, they would have likely doubled or tripped the Box Office net of The Princess and the Frog. Also, we can see that Princess and the Frog is the only Disney Princess film not on the list of the Top 50 Animated Disney Films from the Disney Movie Guide but Rotten Tomatoes does list it as the 24th best Disney Animated Film of all time. Now, you can see the disparity in the box office net up there, it’s not just that though…. Home video takings for The Princess and the Frog have barely passed $70 million since it was released on home video 5 years ago. Meanwhile, Frozen was released on home video just 2 years ago and is already well past $300 million. Any way you slice it, Disney is in the business of making money. The Princess and the Frog, dethroned The Little Mermaid as the least successful Disney Princesses film even though it was given a much longer theatrical run compared to movies that made much more in almost half the time. A business is not going to continue to stock and sell a product if it’s the least likely to turn a profit especially when they have something as mind-blowingly lucrative as Frozen on their hands. I’m sorry that your feelings don’t like that but it’s not racism. It’s business. You may love the movie, and everyone you know may love the movie, but when compared to Frozen, the rest of the world clearly couldn’t give less of a shit about the Princess and the Frog. Sincerely, Someone who hasn’t seen the Princess and the Frog and who fell asleep 1/3 of the way through Frozen.
Question: why are you telling us all this?
No really, why?
What’s the point?
Are you saying that we should just stop asking for more Tiana merch?
Because that is what it sounds like.
Also, who cares about the Disney movie guide? Who are these people? Why should I listen to what they say? What am I some mindless sheep? If they don’t like Princess and the Frog, it’s not my fault.
And you know that just because Frozen is popular now doesn’t mean it’s always going to be? Frozen came out two years ago and Disney is flooding the market with more pointless Frozen merch that isn’t selling. And just because Frozen was Disney’s most successful movie doesn’t mean it’s always going to stay that way. Sooner or later, another movie will dethrone it.
You’re also acting as companies don’t make bad decisions. Just because Disney is a company doesn’t mean we have to agree with how they do business. Ignoring your latest animated movie in favor for an old one? That’s not a smart business move. It’s also not smart to ignore the only female hero in your Avengers line up and not give her merch.
We know Disney is a business but that doesn’t mean we should just accept how they run their business and just lay down, accepting how they treat treat Tiana. You just said so yourself that you haven’t seen her movie so it’s obvious that you do not care about her. That’s fine but guess what? A lot of us do. That’s why we’re fighting so hard for her.
Sincerely,
Someone who is tired of defending Disney and using the ‘they’re a business’ excuse
I say this because, whether you’re tired of it or not, whether or not you think it’s a bad decision, whether or not you want it to be racist, facts are facts. The movie underperformed at the box office compared to the rest of the line (save for the Little Mermaid but that’s had 20+ years to redeem itself). That’s a simple, undeniable fact. With that fact in mind, you really need to stop trying to cram another narrative on top of the simple explanation to your original issue. Disney. Is. A. Business. And hurt feelings don’t change sales figures. No matter how much you want it to be so, it’s not because Tiana’s black. Mulan, Pocahontas, and Aladdin, all clearly illustrate that “not being white” is not the issue when it comes to these movies. Not only that, but The Princess and the Frog came out as a 2D film in a world where Pixar has become a cultural behemoth and it likely suffered because of it. There are a handful of far more logical and simple reasons why Tiana merchandise isn’t selling or being stocked enough. Regardless of whether you’re think Frozen merch “isn’t selling”, it clearly is. A year after the movie came out Disney had to freeze and restrict the sales of Frozen merch because they could not meet demand. Also, here’s a nice bit of info on Frozen merch sales more recently.
“On February 3, 2015, Disney Consumer Products reported a 22% rise in revenue and a 46% rise in operating income for the quarter ending on December 27, 2014 (as compared to the quarter a year earlier).[49] The largest driver of that growth was Frozen merchandise.[49] During the Walt Disney Company’s earnings call on that same date, Frozen was mentioned 24 times, “more than ‘Star Wars,’ ‘The Avengers,’ 'Cinderella’ and 'Spider-Man’ combined.”[67] The next day, Disney’s stock price jumped 8% in one day to close at a record high of $101.28 per share.[68]“ Disneymovielist.com? Disney fan site that gets just under 10,000 visits a day and aggregates its rankings based on fan polls and review scores from sites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic so it’s a fairly good snapshot of the general reception of Disney animated films. No one’s blaming you for them not liking it as much, you childish twit, why even ask? And Black Widow? Yeah, that’s a fuck-up seing as how 40% of Avengers viewers are female. Toy companies are still very much under the impression that girls don’t buy action figures. I very much doubt that it’s actually true, buuuuuut it’s also not what’s being discussed so it’s irrelevant as we’re discussion an entirely different movie’s merchandise not selling because of an entirely different (alleged) reason. At the end of the day, Tiana is not a person. She’s not real. She is a product. A product that is did not sell as well as hoped so they are putting more effort and money into their products that do sell. It’s the most basic idea behind commerce. Supply and demand. The demand for Tiana merch isn’t as big as they would like or as big as it would need to be for them to feel it’s good business to push it. So they don’t supply as much of it. The demand for You may not like it, but unfortunately, businesses are not beholden to your feelings. You ask why I’m saying this? I’m saying it because you’re a fucking idiot. Stop acting like it’s because of racism, when as the numbers clearly show: Frozen is a global merchandising powerhouse. It is a financial wet dream that doesn’t actually show any signs of stopping. You keep acting like they are making a mistake and filling the racks with merchandise that’s clogging the market and not selling when the numbers show that you’re full of shit. As opposed to an underperforming, underselling movie from 6 years ago that’s largely been forgotten under the weight of much more popular and lucrative films.
It’s not racism. It’s business. Quit acting like your feelings trump logic and basic economics.
I see you brought up Black Widow and sexism: Disney deliberately bought Marvel (and Lucasfilm) to get the boy/man demographic- they don’t at all care for the women and girls who are attracted to either franchise. And Disney has no incentive to appeal to them either because they think they've’ve got the female demographic locked up with the Disney princess franchise. That’s a prime example of sexism tied into business. What makes you think racism doesn’t impact business either?
I brought up the example yesterday about Nickelodeon and Legend of Korra. Nick never had much faith or interest in the show despite it’s predecessor, Avatar: The Last Airbender being a huge hit and having a pretty much built-in fanbase. Part of the reason that Nick didn’t have faith in the show was because the protagonist, Korra, was a woman of color. So you’ve got a double hitter- racism and sexism. They didn’t want to make action-figures for the show because it would mean making action figures of the principle female character (once again playing into the sexist notion that boys don’t want to play with toys of girls). At best, besides DVDs and art, most official merchandise are T-shirts, two mugs and one plush toy. Nick also did things like move the show’s slot around without warning, making the numbers drop and then debuting the last two seasons of the show online, which obviously limits the availability. So, in this way, Nickelodeon made conscious decisions to try to get this show to fail, using sexist and racist notions tied into business logic.
Heck, Dreamwork’s most recent film, Home, has Tip, a black girl, but they barely show her in the marketing but for a few posters. Pretty much any merchandising on has the alien and Tip’s cat, but not Tip. Heck, there’s a petition to get Tip on the cover of the DVD because so far, it’s just Oh and the cat on the cover. Tell me if that’s just numbers.
What I’m trying to get at here is that yes, numbers do talk, but it’s naive to think that racism and sexism aren't tied into business as well. Yes, Princess and the Frog has a lot of factors stacked against it: releasing a hand drawn animated film in an almost completely CG market (I say almost because there were two stop-motion animated films that came out the same year that did well, so traditional animation in general isn’t completely on its way out), putting the film out not long before Avatar, arguably one of the most successful films ever, came out. Not to mention the unfortunate decision to make her a frog for most of the move- this makes it harder for the audience to identify with her when she’s not a frog when you’ve come to connect with her in this form. But is Disney being totally objective with numbers and that’s their reason to not make merchandise simply available of Tiana or the other princesses of color? No.
I mean, The Little Mermaid is older than Aladdin, Pocahontas, and Mulan yet has much more appreciation and recognition in the brand. Why? Because DIsney put it put there; Disney promotes that movie every decade or so. Heck, even Cinderella which is about 50 or so years old, even without the recent live-action film to help revitalize the franchise, was still immensely popular in the Disney princess brand. Why? Because Disney promoted it. In the end, DIsney promotes what it wants to promote, not necessarily based on numbers or statistics, but who they want and think will sell. And coincidentally, it’s always the white girls. Even the least popular white Disney princesses have more merchandise than the princesses of color. That’s not an accident; it’s a conscious decision, not just a business one.
All in all, all we’re asking is that the merchandise simply be made available. This is not asking a lot, simply that the merchandise be made available for people to buy.

@ all the people saying it wouldn’t be historically accurate to have POC in the 40s
In a discussion on race, I will not take you seriously if you
- refer to white people as Caucasian
- are under the notion that “reverse racism“ exists
- think racism against white people exists and/or is a serious issue
- use the dictionary definition of racism as “proof” in your argument
- have the gall to say PoC are “takin’ all yer scholarships”
- claim the term ”PoC“ is oppressive to white folk
- claim white people “aren’t technically white” (no link for this. should be common sense)
- say you are “colorblind”
- think being LGBT*QUIA means you don’t benefit from white privilege
Don’t waste my time with silly arguments and beliefs that have been refuted ad nauseum. Educate yourself before trying to discuss race and privilege.
Hard Truths: Minority Scholarships
White Men are the new minority. They can’t get scholarships for school because of the colored and lady folk. Except, that’s not true. Not even a little bit.
Once again, because of the amount of “…but white men” complaints, a study was done on their behalf to see if there was any validity to their clams. Spoiler Alert! There wasn’t. However, the really interesting thing was that the numbers, while being kept accurate were used to misconstrue the conversation on many of the sites I found. For example, the outcome (in California)was, 43.6% of private scholarships went to white people while 55.3% went to minorities.
If I end with the previous sentence, it sounds like white people might have a point, right? Except, nope! That didn’t stop an inane amount of web sites from using this number as proof that white people are getting discriminated against for collage scholarships though. It also was interesting to see those sites use these numbers to make their case but not the Nationwide numbers.
Let’s look a little closer at those numbers, shall we?
The study was done Nationwide over the 03/04 and 07/08 school years. Although, the numbers I just mentioned are actually from a smaller study done in California. For now, let’s talk California. The study was done for several hundred thousand students but just to make it easy for all of us, I am going to break it down in numbers out of 100,000.
The above percentages breaks down to, White-43,000/Minority-55,300/Other-1,100. (I am not sure what “Other” entails since these numbers are race specific) Even by these numbers, if you aren’t paying attention, you could be lead to think that white people are getting the shaft, right? Well, that is what many web sites that I came across did, and did pretty well I might add. If it weren’t for the fact that I have critical thinking skills, I would have believed them too. Let’s keep going.
The trick here is the wording “Minority.” Luckily, there is more information easily found on this study. Here’s the breakdown out of 100,000 students receiving scholarships where race is a factor: White-43,000/Black-5,300/Latino-29,500/Asian-1,100/American India-2,100/Native Hawaiian-2,200/More than one race-5,200/Other-11,600.
Remember how I said this portion was done in California specifically? Well, I also have the numbers for the Nationwide study. I’ll admit it, these are the numbers that dance in my head when I hear “White people/white men are the new minorities.” Ready? Here we go…
White: Scholarship Recipients-798,400 Total Private Scholarship Funding-$1,891 Million
Black: Scholarship Recipients-129,000 Total Private Scholarship Funding-$345 Million
Latino: Scholarship Recipients-103,900 Total Private Scholarship Funding-$236 Million
Asian: Scholarship Recipients-52,800 Total Private Scholarship Funding-$186 Million
American Indian: Scholarship Recipients-19,000 Total Private Scholarship Funding-$56 Million
Native Hawaiian: Scholarship Recipients-6,200 Total Private Scholarship Funding-$30 Million
Multi-Racial: Scholarship Recipients-40,200 Total Private Scholarship Funding-$156 Million
The study goes on to say that LESS THAN FIVE PERCENT of ALL scholarships and LESS THAT TEN PERCENT of INDIVIDUAL scholarships consider the student’s race among their eligibility criteria. Soooooooo….What were you saying about white men being the new minority?
With all this information, I was still able to find page after page of race baiting white only scholarships. The sick part is that although I was able to find many white only scholarships, I was not able to find one (at least not on any web site that I looked at) that didn’t preface the information with some form of “Minorities get everything handed to them. Now it’s our turn.”
You cannot be Pro-Black and hate dark skin women.
You cannot be Pro-Black and transphobic.
You cannot be Pro-Black and homophobic.
You cannot be Pro-Black and continue to ignore the deaths of anyone but cis Black men.
It does not fucking work that way. You support everyone in our community or don’t do it all. We don’t need half ass support for full blown racism.
You can’t put restrictions on unity.
This is my DIRECT response to the media, the injustice and inequality of our justice system, police brutality, and the overall undermining bigotry in this country. CONTINUATION ON THE BUD & RAPE CULTURE ISSUE
STOP minimizing rape culture to “but they meant this.”
I graduated in 1992 with a degree in Public Relations & Advertising. I had a high profile internship with Fox Broadcasting & worked on Corporate Publicity for In Living Colors. I graduated with this idealism of Melrose Place but what I experienced in 1992 was more like Mad Men.
I, because I am the typical blonde hair Cali Surfer chick, got secretarial & production coordinator jobs in major ad agencies in Century City, LA. All the men from my graduating class went right into creative & account management positions. At the time, I did make the same $$$ as my male counter points so I thought it was fair.
The Account Manager I worked under for the Midas Muffler account, in 1994, had a stack of Playboy magazine right there in his office. As my looks have not held up to misogynistic standards, not my education & experience, my income declined. And guess who does all the work? the secretaries or our PC term Administrative Assistants.
To say “Oh, but they meant this” is so NAIVE & such a minimizing insult to the rape culture.
You have not worked in the industry. This mistake went through numerous marketing meetings. This mistake went through Budweiser’s approval process and that wasn’t again; just one person. It went all the way to mass production with millions behind it. It didn’t stop until WE SPOKE UP.
HOW MANY MEN first use alcohol to get the courage to get the sex they want?
HOW MANY MEN use alcohol to lower the inhibitions of their female victims?
HOW MANY MEN use being drunk as an excuse of not being responsible for their rape behavior?
Do you even read your fellow survivors stories and how many of them can’t wrap their brains around their rape because they feel responsible because their drinking either allowed it to happen or they don’t even remember?
IF YOU WANT TO SUPPORT A GREAT ORGANIZATION - the one that “really gets” how to change our rape culture in the media & capitalism.
They had to guts & wisdom to change that Cover Girl which is P&G.
Cover Girl made a $$$ deal over being the official make-up of the NFL, and put them right into the firestorm.
Cover Girl had to back down & that also meant Proctor & Gamble. That meant stock prices dropping. Back them into a corner.
They attacked Goodell. #GoodellMustGo.
CoverGirl Ad Gets Disturbing Photoshop Treatment, Calls Out NFL On Domestic Violence
We need to attack Trump & Goodell the “Kings of Patriarchy”, because if they are not safe, then no patriarchy is safe. The rest will cave to avoid being spotlighted on twitter & in the media and losing ultimately $$$.
Public companies must grow every quarter, it the law of $$$ survival. Back them into a corner.
I would support UltraViolet in a heartbeat over RAINN any day.
Do you know why Budweiser backed out after spending MILLIONS on this campaign & bottle production, because the fear having the same problems that #GoodellMustGo is having right now.
They have no control over YOUR twitter, facebook & tumblr threads.
