izzy’s only love language is acts of service he can never say “i love you” outloud to ed but he can bring his captain tea and massage his bad knee and do the boring bookkeeping to make sure they have enough supplies to make it to port and he will never tell ed that ed’s beautiful and he wont know which flowers to buy but he will draw up a bath and use his sensitive inner wrist to test the water and thats love for izzy hands thats the only kinda love he can do
its clear that ed&iz have an intimate relationship regardless of whether it is romantic or platonic. izzy pulls ed aside for 1-on-1 convos and ed calls izzy over when he finds smth cool. izzy talks back and is insubordinate but when ed “wants the job done right” he orders izzy to go and izzy does go. ed&iz have canonically worked together for yrs. at one point ed mustve really liked izzy for izzy to become first mate. ed punches izzy for sending the navy but he doesnt kick izzy off the ship. so i dont think ed hates izzy, even after the Toe. the Toe was Bad but we know that if ed really loathed someone he will arrange a slow and painful death for them (snail fork much) and he hasnt given izzy a death sentence. izzys limping, but hes still first mate. and all of this is text! when ppl are like “i hate izzy” im like “ok” but THEN they are like “ed hates izzy” im like “thats just lies ur saying now” bc if ed was capable of hating izzy then izzy would be dead. if anything eds like the biggest in-story izzy stan bc lord knows no one else seems to like him. i like izzy and ed does too. he might wish he doesnt, but he do.
