Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot Pitch Meeting: ( A fan pitch meeting inspired by Screen Rant’s popular series )
Man in suit: So you have a new pitch for me?
Man in glasses: Yes sir I do.
Man in suit: Great, so what is it?
Man in glasses: Basically it’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Man in suit: Ok Buffy is cool. So it is inspired by Buffy or..
Man in glasses: No, no it’s actually Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Man in glasses: Yeh, Josh Whedon wanted to bring it back.
Man in suit: That makes sense, it feels like it’s time.
Man in suit: And a lot of shows from the nineties are in development right now. Rugrats, other Nickelodeon cartoons. Oh and Sabrina that had witches and stuff.
Man in suit: So what’s new about this one, what makes it fresh/ different?
Man in glasses: Well Buffy is Black now.
Man in glasses: Yep! And her friends are made up of a more diverse cast of ethnicity’s.
Man in suit: Ok. Very modern and cultural sensitive.
Man in suit: Soooo is it a sequel or a prequel?
Man in glasses: Oh! No, yeh it’s just a straight up reboot.
Man in suit: A reboot. Isn’t that going to be difficult to sell?
Man in glasses: What do you mean?
Man in suit: Like isn’t that going make many many people upset.
Man in glasses: I’m not following you.
Man in suit: Well it’s just, it’s only been fifteen years since the show ended. And it had like seven seasons. The actors aren’t that old and I’m pretty sure there’d reprise their roles at least in a cameo.
Man in glasses: But here’s the thing. A reboot is easier.
Man in suit: Got it! So are we going to market it to a younger generation?
Man in glasses: Yeh that’s the plan, really hammer in a more modern social justice thing. We’re pretty confident that it will work well with the contrast of Vampires/ me too undertones. Plus vampires are usually creepy white dudes anyway.
Man in suit: Sounds dark.
Man in glasses: Vampires work in the dark.
(long uncomfortable pause)
Man in suit: So who’s gonna air this thing.
Man in glasses: Well it’s still being decided. The script isn’t even finished yet.
Man in suit: Ooooh can you develop it for a streaming service?
Man in glasses: Sure! Super easy barely an inconvenience.
Man in suit: Great! Streaming platforms are the future of television.
Man in glasses: They do make a lot of money.
Man in suit: Ok well I hope people get excited for this project.
Man in glasses: Well with shows like Titans and She-Ra to argue about who would complain about a show that’s basically just a concept at this point.
(Both nod in agreement)
