reblog if you wear glasses. too many mutuals don't know they have glasses wearers in their midsts

@ my fellow adults who use tumblr a lot:

can you PLEASE put your age in your about/sidebar and make sure it’s accessible on mobile. imo if you’re an adult esp 20+ it’s a little weird that you wouldn’t have your age readily available on your blog. if you’re reading this now and you don’t have your age listed, please rectify that. i feel like teenagers get lured into talking to adults in fandom/lgbt spaces that they may not have intentionally sought out because they think they’re talking to other teenagers, and this can lead to a lot of other – much more insidious –problems

Can you guys step out of the tumblr “everyone over 20 is inherently predatory and creepy towards children” bubble for once and consider that encouraging people to give up their personal information for the imagined safety of the community is like…not safe?

this advice doesn’t even make sense for multiple reasons; if someone is intent on preying upon minors, all they have to do is follow your advice and lie about their age, being over 20 doesn’t mean you can’t be preyed on yourself, you should never be coerced into giving up your privacy on social media (seriously, did a fed write this?), and promoting the idea that turning 20 means your interactions with younger people should be viewed with suspicion is absolutely harmful, like OP do you have any common sense? At all?

“ignore your own privacy boundaries and discomfort and if you don’t idk 🤔sounds a lil sus 2 me, pedophile” will you guys stop larping as conservative politicians for one second please

think-of-the-children fearmongering is not the same thing as actually protecting minors

You’re talking about - much more insidious - problems while telling people if you don’t do what I tell you, you might be a threat to the safety of our community, like okay Dubya!

Let me tell you about the insidious things that happened when I was young in fandom spaces and older fans became my friends

1. I was taught real sex ed by a midwife, including a lot of pros and cons of various birth control

2. I learned you can just get anything printed into a book and having it in a physical book don’t legitimize something

3. I learned how to enjoy other cultures without making people from those cultures uncomfortable

4. I realized my guardians, while better than my past guardians, were still abusive and what I was experiencing was not healthy, even if distressingly common

5. I learned generosity without ulterior motives actually did exist

6. I learned I don’t have to abandon the things I enjoy as I get older.

7. I was taught ways to treat people differently in deference to their age while still treating them as peers.

(they treated me as an equal, but I was not included in any sexual discussions, for example)

8. I learned that friendships don’t have to be quid pro quo

All of these things super insidious and destructive to the conservative agenda.

Destroying the links between generations is part of how the powerful keep us from forming communities and bettering our lives. Don’t do the masters’ work for them.

Back in the day, it was considered taboo to publicly release ANY private information about yourself. Your real name, your age, where you lived, what you looked like, all that shit was reserved for people you spoke to privately. The Internet was a place of personalities and that was it.

Adults interacting with minors is only creepy if the adults in the interaction are creepy. Not every adult on the internet is malicious. On the contrary, a lot of us want to help teach yall how to SPOT AND AVOID malicious adults.

I really, truly, cannot wrap my mind around how it got to the point where kids on social media these days actually believe that everybody is entitled to everybody’s personal information online.

I’ve been actively using the internet since the early 2000s, and to this day, I don’t put my real name, age, birthday, and exact location on public display.

I don’t owe you my privacy.

I’m here to chill and ramble in my little corner of the internet and shitpost with my internet friends. I offer a safe space for anyone who wants/needs it. It’s a you problem if you think we’re all here to be predators based on nothing more than age demographics.

Merlin: Is it me, Arthur?
Arthur: No, it’s not you.
Gwen: Is it me, Arthur?
Arthur: No, it's not you.
Morgana: Is it me, Arthur?
Arthur: ...
Arthur, mockingly: Is IT mE aRtHUr?

One thing that almost always bothers me about Merlin fics, but is not just the norm, but the rule:

When Arthur tries to repeal the magic ban, it is always the "stuffy old councilmen" who oppose him. Meanwhile, the one or two younger advisors are the ones who are in favor.

Now, I understand why that is. People look at real life and of course, they put it in fics. So if you see that it's the old people who stand against what you fight for, you would imagine that would happen in fantasy as well.

See, here's the thing though: in the Merlin universe, I guarantee that the older people would be the ones who would approve of magic coming back.

And the reason is the very same reason why you despise the elders here today: they are stuck in the old ways, so to speak.

Those men who are 60 or 70 under Arthur's rule would have been 40 or 50 when the purge happened. They would have already been used to a world with magic and would have fought against such an old tradition being outlawed.

Instead, the young men of 30 or even 20, would hardly know a world in which magic was known to be good and everywhere. For them, it would be an old dangerous thing that only mad old people with bad intentions would want to reinstate.

They are people who grew up like Arthur. Indoctrinated by Uther's propaganda. The ones who grew up only seeing magic's destruction.

Of course, this is fiction, YOUR fiction. So you can decide who the bad guys are. But realistically it would be someone older to not only support the return to the old ways but to push for it.

Would they be against Arthur marrying a servant? (a man????????) yes... That's very likely. But not when it comes to magic.

(Of course, there are always exceptions... But still)

Arthur sitting at his work table: This is the absolute worst day of my life

Arthur after Merlin kisses his cheek while walking past him carrying some scrolls: This is one of the days in my life

ive been doing a lot of youtube recipe binging lately so i was recommended this video and i was like fuck it diet soup why not

and it sounded pretty tasty so after the vid i scrolled down to see what people thought of it, and i just really need to share with you all what the comment section is like

and for the one that broke me:

I laughed so hard I gave myself an actual headache oml

i laughed so hard at this comment

This is Sugar Free Gummy Bears 2

once in college my friend asked me to come along on a date she wasn’t comfortable with because she knew that I would step in and ruin the mood on purpose if she gave me the signal that she wanted out

I came along, it was awkward, she gave the signal, and I immediately dumped a glass of ice water over my head and said “oh no looks like you have to drive me home immediately to prevent hypothermia” but then she and her bad date thought this was so startling and funny that it broke the tension and got them talking. and then I had to sit around for the rest of their date dripping water and shivering because she decided she was enjoying herself.
