My favorite thing to do before executing a risky maneuver is to loudly proclaim to anyone nearby that "I'm young, I'm fantastic, and I'm never gonna die". This is firstly to pump myself up, secondly because if I succeed I'll be proven right in front of an audience, and thirdly because it is the funniest possible thing to say immediately before being horrifically mangled in a completely dumbfuck sort of way
Andrew Minyard: I smashed a man’s arm to pieces for threatening to hurt him
Kaz Brekker: I tore out a man’s eye and threw him overboard for hurting her
Andrew: I told him he’s a pipedream
Kaz: I told her she’s an investment
Andrew: We had a bathroom scene with bandages and neck kissing
Kaz: We had a bathroom scene with bandages and neck kissing
Andrew: I killed the woman who physically abused my brother for years
Kaz: I destroyed the life of the man who caused my brother’s death
Andrew: I hate to be touched
Kaz: I hate to be touched
Andrew: Emotions are for skivs
Kaz: Agreed
Andrew: My love language is extravagant gift giving
Kaz: My love language is extravagant gift giving
Ronan Lynch, strolling into the room smoking a cigarette: ‘sup motherfuckers I heard we have a group now
boy really said in case you haven’t noticed i’m weird, i’m a weirdo. i don’t fit it and i don’t want to fit in. have you ever seen me without these stupid gloves on?
Most sports books are like “I need to win championships so I can prove myself!!!” and then there’s The Foxhole Court where the main character is like “yeah so if I don’t win championships I will literally be executed because when I was 10 my serial killer father tried to sell me to a cult so my assassin mother stole $5 million from the yakuza and ran away with me, but it turned out that my dad was friends with the leader of the mafia, so now we also had a bunch of hit men after us, and almost a decade later my dad caught up with us and killed my mom and I faked my death, so I decided to join a college sports team to start my new life, but then I found out one of my teammates is a runaway from the cult my dad tried to sell me to, and not only that but the cult’s leader is the brother of the head of the Japanese mafia, so now both of them are after me too, and also the FBI keeps trying to convince me to testify against my father, but if I do I’ll have to go into witness protection because my dad’s friends will try to kill me and I can’t be a professional athlete while under witness protection, but luckily my uncle (who is the leader of the British mob) brokered a deal that will assure my safety if I win championships as long as I hand over 80% of my salary to the mafia for the rest of my life.” And that’s only the main character, I haven’t even mentioned how insane some of the side characters’ backstories are!
Basically this is the most unhinged book I have ever read and I love it so much
it was incredibly poetic of nora to begin andreil’s storyline with andrew hitting neil with a racquet and ending it with andrew protecting neil from being hit with a racquet.
I just want everyone on Andrew’s professional team to think Neil is a bad influence. Sure, Andrew had a bad reputation in college, but in reality he's quiet and keeps to himself and never starts shit (even if he will finish it). Meanwhile Neil is loud and brash and has public feuds with at least 5 reporters at any given moment. He averages one brawl a game and is known to be arrogant and difficult to get along with.
Neil finds it Delightful. He's thrilled by the idea that there's a whole professional exy team out there that feels nearly as protective of his husband as he is
When Andrew tells him their captain asked if Andrew had ever considered divorce Neil practically threw a party. He owns more merch for Andrew’s team than his own.
Securing support for same-sex marriage in India
On 18 April 2023, the Indian Supreme Court began hearing arguments in favour of marriage equality from members of the LGBTQ+ community. In what is being called an issue of ‘seminal’ importance for the country, this debate has arguments from both sides, including whether the judiciary should have any role in the matter at all.
Following the decriminalisation of homosexuality in 2018, several writ petitions seeking legal recognition for same-sex marriage were filed at the Supreme Court and the High Courts of Delhi and Kerala. These pleas sought to challenge the 1955 Hindu Marriage Act, 1969 Foreign Marriage Act and 1954 Special Marriage Act.
Since the case for marriage equality involves a ‘substantial question of law pertaining to the interpretation of the constitution’ and will have a ‘huge bearing on society’, the Supreme Court appointed five judges to a constitutional bench, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.
There is little political support for same-sex marriage in India. Only one political party — the Communist Party of India — has openly supported marriage equality. While Supriya Sule from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) introduced a similar bill in the past, an official announcement from the NCP on this issue has not been made yet.
Political leaders like Brinda Karat, formerly from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari from the Indian National Congress (INC) have endorsed same-sex marriage, but official statements from their parties are still due. Though INC has been a vocal supporter of the community’s rights in the past, its silence on this issue is concerning.
The Naga People’s Front, a north-eastern regional party has expressed opposition to same-sex marriage. Most other political parties have maintained tight-lipped silence or skirted around the issue. But since 2013, several bills favouring the LGBTQ+ community have either been ignored or not tabled. With such little support, the community has had no choice but to turn to the judiciary. Supporters have argued that some interpretations of the Special Marriage Act and other secular legislation provide space for the legalisation of same-sex marriage.
During the parliamentary debates before the implementation of this act, a former member of parliament, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit from INC advocated for the right to choose one’s partner and opined that this law might not have had immediate takers but would be demanded by future generations. During the hearings on marriage equality, CJI Chandrachud also questioned whether the existence of binary gender was really a necessary requirement for the relationship of marriage.
The tone of the court during the hearings and the openness to understand the ever-changing notion of marriage is itself a positive sign, but concrete steps must flow for any meaningful change to occur.
Time and again, courts have supported the right of an individual to marry the person of their choice. Previous court rulings, albeit for opposite-sex couples, have interpreted Article 21 of the Constitution — which stipulates the right to marry — to mean the right to marry the person of one’s choice. And in the landmark Navtej Singh Johar case, the court not only decriminalised homosexuality but also asserted that the ‘fact that the LGBT persons constitute a “minuscule fraction” of the country’s population cannot be a ground to deprive them of their Fundamental Rights’.
In the recent Deepika Singh v Central Administrative Tribunal, the court also recognised atypical familial relationships, including queer relationships. This court has made several landmark judgements in favour of the community. Judgements regarding the recognition of transgender people as representing a ‘third gender’ and decriminalisation of homosexuality were also ruled by the country’s Supreme Court, with the same political party in government. This leaves hope for the community that they may see another momentous judgment passed in their favour.
Laws should evolve to reflect social values. A 2021 survey indicated growing acceptance of same-sex marriages and new forms of family. In contrast to the Indian government’s claim that advocacy for same-sex marriages represents an ‘urban-elitist’ view only, a survey by CSDS-Lokniti & Azim Premji University, covering 24,000 respondents across 12 states, shows similar acceptance for same-sex marriages across the rural and urban areas. Given the variations in samples and methodologies, it is challenging to draw conclusive trends in public opinion from these surveys alone. Nonetheless, these surveys suggest the evolving nature of Indian society and a potential emergence of a more inclusive and accepting environment for same-sex marriage.
It is natural for the LGBTQ+ community to seek legality for a relationship valued so profoundly in Indian culture. There is a long history of same-sex unions in India, although often not legally sanctioned. The experiences of marginalised couples, who married through Hindu rites or resorted to joint suicide as a form of union when forcibly separated, highlight the deep-rooted desire for recognition and union within the Indian culture.
Legalising same-sex marriage will provide greater social acceptance, along with crucial medical and financial rights granted by a marriage certificate. By embracing marriage equality, India can uphold its values of diversity and equality. Constitutional rights must not be compromised, but rather should ensure the equal right to marry a person of one’s choice, irrespective of gender and sexual orientation.
ANTI-CAPITALIST AFFIRMATIONS
- i am allowed to spend my time creating things, even if they are not beautiful.
- there is no such thing as a "real job." all forms of work are real and valid.
- there is nothing that i need to accomplish to be worthy. i am already worthy.
- doing nothing is good for my soul.
- i am not defined by what i produce.
- my worth cannot be measured by my paycheck, my job title, or a list of professional or academic achievements.
- i do not need to monetize my hobbies, it is enough to spend time doing something i love.
- i will not let society decide what success looks like. i can define what successful life looks like for me.
This is awesome…some body focused ones would be so nice add, too, seeing as how much money is made off of our insecurities (insecurities they manufacture in us btw)
•I am not only allowed to be still, rest, and eat, I must do these things to survive.
•My body doesn’t need to look or function to someone else’s standards.
•I’m allowed to seek pleasure in my body.
Feminism isn't "Women vs Men"
Feminism is "Us vs The Patriarchy"
And "Us" includes everyone.
the patriarchy is the men btw.
No, it's not. The patriarchy is a system. Women can also enforce the patriarchy. Women can be and often are misogynistic and sexist.
Understanding the difference between a hierarchical system and individual human beings should be feminism 101.

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the Barbie movie and about the parts that touched on real-life dynamics, but the most uncomfortably real part to me is something I haven’t seen talked about yet, and it’s when Ken ultimately collapses and Barbie goes to talk to him. And EVERY TIME she tries to support him, he interprets her words as his cue to try and make a move romantically. And every time she gently rejects his advances he collapses wailing and slapping himself to the point that she feels bad. For being honest about not wanting a relationship with him.
“No, Ken, this isn’t the answer,” was the best line in response to his existential problems and I’m 100% glad they had both Barbie sticking to it and the other Kens positively supporting Ken without having to dunk on Barbie or call her a bitch for refusing to fake romantic feelings she does not have.
Nothing hurts worse than when your friends and family make fun of veganism. Their disgusting discriminative nature towards the animals becomes so clear, their speciesism becomes so glaringly obvious that it's no longer possible to call them friends/family, not when you know there are trillions of animals (most of whom are children) screaming and being systematically raped and murdered as a result of this. And I feel so bad for every vegan who has to deal with this, however I feel even worse for the animals because they are the true victims of this awful discrimination.
I swear I'll punch the next person I see dunking on that poor lady who died from ED and blaming veganism for it just to shield animal cruelty. Eating disorders and mental health are not a fucking joke and neither is animal rights. You don't get to erase either to push your agenda for keeping animal slavery alive and you definitely don't get to use a dead vegan as your whipping boy. Also, vegans with eating disorders exist, vegans with illnesses exist, vegans with disabilities exist. Veganism is a fucking social justice movement for animal rights. It is not a bloody miracle cure for human diseases or whatever. It is only a cure for the shitty discrimination called speciesism that animals are subjected to at the hands of humans. I repeat, stop erasing the actual victims aka the animals and stop using dead vegans as a way to feel good about participating in animal oppression.
PS For my beloved vegans. Please always keep contacts of vegan psychologists at hand. Vegans often get their ethics dismissed by non-vegan therapists and that is detrimental to our mental health. I know one on Instagram @ clare_vystopia . She's also written a book on the mental health of vegans. Feel free to share about more vegan therapists. Would be very helpful 🙏
Worst part of living in the void is all those assholes screaming into it. Keep it down, would ya?
It was better when I lived in the abyss. People just stared into it until it stared back. I mean, lack of privacy was an issue, but at least I could get some sleep.

It wasn’t boomers who made it impossible to survive on a librarian or gardener’s salary - it was rich people.
Plenty of boomers work as librarians, teachers, gardeners, and so forth, and are finding that as the cost of living skyrockets and corporations take over more and more of the world, that their salary is no longer able to support them.
And thus you have boomers - who understand how much you want to be a librarian because they also work as librarians - going bankrupt, losing their homes, drowning in debt, and dying because of unaffordable healthcare. And they get why you’re becoming an IT specialist instead of a librarian - because they! Know! That you can’t survive! On a librarian’s salary anymore!
On the flip side, the rich people sucking money out of every service and person they can! Aren’t! Always! Boomers! Tons of them are Gen X! And an increasing number are millennials! I haven’t seen a Gen Z billionaire yet but I’m willing to bet there’s a couple by now!
Oh, and it’s not like they “don’t know” how much people want to do these sorts of jobs - they do! That’s how they justify underpaying people, because it’s your passion, you don’t ~need~ to be paid a living wage for your passion.
You have more in common with poor boomers than you do with Kylie Jenner (born 1997). Go and talk to them. Organize with them. You’ll find they have a lot to offer once you stop dismissing them as rich old folks who ruined the economy.
As someone with a super leftist boomer father I feel this
sam in season one didn’t have a fuck to give. dean, let’s board the plane that is going down. dean, i’m gonna call bloody mary. dean, just park the impala there and let the racist truck drive through you. dean needed a whole separate credit card scam just to afford the headache medication.
